Opinions on the b16a????
Does anyone have any opinions on the b16a. im interested in doin a swap in my 1990 civic and i think the b16a would be the most convenient and the most in-expensive motor. WAT DO YOU THINK?!?!?!?!
Yeah???? good ive been trying to find sum good setups. im definately going to turbo it. Ive herd you have to lower the compression ratio tho.....
oh yeah have you herd of anyone getting one of those ssautochrome turbo kits because im lookin at getting one but it seems to good to be true

you don't HAVE to lower the comp ratio, but it makes it a bit easier to tune, lowers the chances of detonation, and makes additional boost possible on stock sleeves, if you use forged pistons.
ssautochrome is too good to be true, b/c YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. but, some people have had decent luck with the wastegates and manifolds, provided that they relieved the mani of holding up the weight of the turbo. this is done by making a bracket to brace the turbo from underneath and have the engine block support it.

What is the maximum boost you think i could safely run through the b16a without any internal mods, just the stock b16a and the turbo set-up. is it a bad idea and if it is do you think forged rods and pistons would be enough? oh and how are the heads on them , strong enough to handle the additional power?

I'm running 12 psi on my stock B16A with a T3 .48/.60 turbo and it pulls like a freaking beast.
if you want more than 300whp plan on upgrading the internals and sleeving or filling the block.
get a good FMIC. Stay away from SSAC kits. Their wastegates and BOVs are good from what I hear. I'm running one of their 38mm wastegates and its working great so far

my friend has an integra with a b16a1 and got his turbo in 6 days ago and it ran perfect before the turbo it was installed with hondata and it started smoking and all kinds of crank case smoke coming from the valve cover did a compression test and it was 100 170 80 190 its a an eclipes/evo 3 turbo with 7.8 pounds of boost what do you think happened
should have done teh compression test before the install.
Soudns liek he had a bad tune if it had a good comrpession before the install. No smoke for me

well how long before the mani actually cracks or breaks? month? two? a year? thanks

300hp or less with a good tune..Who gives a **** about boost..Im sick of people asking how much boost the motor can handle..You would have to give to give every single spec of the turbo you plan to run for someone to tell you how much boost you can run..
And dont worry about the head..You can make 600-700 maybe even 800hp on a stock head as long as you dont over rev..

the question isnt how much boost. It's how much power and I wouldnt do more than 300whp on a stock B series. how much power you make depends totally on your turbo. get a dyno tune and be done with it.

okay... im startin to get the boost thing, i should aim for power not boost.. good opinion
so what direction should i go in for 300whp goal?? with a b16a i have a mechanical background so feel free to give me the technicals

Get the proper size turbo, intercooler,Good fuel managment and find a good tuner..Also make sure the motor is in optimal condition before you start modding..leakdown test, compresion test,tune-up,belts,etc....
