Default No P/S .... Parking lot...?

I went and drove a car I was thinking about buying today.It was a 94' CX with a B18C I/E.

Ive never driven without P/S before but I thought itll be ok.Im not very weak so I can turn this damn wheel.

Damn it suprised me.It was pretty damn hard to pull out of the driveway when not really rolling at all.Is that how it is at a dead stop or was there something wrong with this car?It wasnt exactly in the best condition.

Thanks

Thats normal, Especially if you're used to PS.

Manual steering is more directly and accurate than PS, you will get used to it. I turn my steering one hand, no PS.

being that its a CX, it probably didn't come with powersteering in the first place.

so it shouldn't be TOO hard. i've had 3 cars that came with NO powersteering. i drove them fine.

THEN, i drove my boy's integra, that HAD powersteering, but he removed it. The powersteering rack is almost twice as hard, as a NON powersteering rack.

maybe your just weak

Thats not normal, your just weak Its really not hard to move the wheel while parked your just used to having p/s. I have a lifted ranger on 31" tires with no p/s and i can turn the tires with one hand at a dead stop

I have a 93 CX with a b16 no p/s and i love it. It's not that hard to turn i. I would choose no p/s anyday more comfortable, controlable feel. After a while it becomes a everyday grind type thing, just like going from auto to manual, you dont think about it, its just habit

He said he removed the P/S.

That must of been what it was.It having a power steering rack with the motor removed because it was pretty hard to turn.

Or maybe Im just spoiled and weak

Thanks

CX or VX I believe.

Doesnt one of the honda's manual steering rack have a better turning ratio(wheel to wheel)?

eh, i think if you drove cars all your life with P/S... and then you drive a car without P/S for the very first time... it will seem pretty hard... but if you've been driving it for awhile it's no problem at all... you'll get used to it... its not that hard to get to the point where you can park with one hand without P/S... sometimes it can still be difficult depending on the slope of the road or whatever, but in general its not 'that' bad at all.. youll get used to it

Yeah, my last car didn't have power steering, the Del Sol S, and it was about the same weight as my Civic and didn't have any problems with it, so I guess it wouldn't be bad in my car.

Be a man, doesn't take a lot to turn the wheel. Try dry steering with one hand holding a drink.

you'll only notice power steering vs. non power steering in about the 1st 0-10mph speed range. after that, it's all the same. the main reason people remove it is weight reduction, not better control.

under NORMAL driving, you wont notice a difference except the 0-10mph range

but you ever taken a freeway onramp (the ones that go in a circle) at a high speed? with P/S its nothing, you can just turn the wheel anyway you want with no problems

without P/S... the steering fights back... you can feel it pull the steering wheel and you have to fight it and hold it harder to take that turn... which gives you better 'feel' of the road

thats just one example

but under 'normal' driving, you probably wont notice too much other than that its more difficult to park
