A friend of mine has a 99 dx hatch, and put and exhaust on it, but i believe he order a exhaust for like an exhaust or somethng that doenst have the cat in the mani, and because pipe on the exhaust is a triangle and where he had to bolt is a 2 bolt flange he bought a test pipe and now the exhaust it sticking out hella far, any ideas, i todl him id sell that one go buy a dx exhaust or take it to a exhaust shop and have them do whatever

 

the period was created for a reason
from what i can gather after reading your post five times is that he ordered an exhaust for a hatch that has the cat under the car,as opposed to his car which has it built into the mani.
probably the easiest solution is to take it to a muffler shop and get it shortened to the proper length.
