TIMING PROBLEM PLEASE HELP***
k guys i know nothing about timing and i own a haynes manual but its confusing.....i fucked up my timing today...i was doing a tune up and when i replaced the distributer cap and rotor......well you know the small screw that holds the rotor in place.....(93 d16z6)...well i could not at all get that back on after installing the new rotor so i figured i would have my girlfriend turn the cover over (not start it) just turn it over until the screw hole was at the top to make it easier to get the screwdriver in there....well after getting the screw on and everything back together the car misses at idle.....did i **** up the timing? i am worried becuase im not sure what to do....i do have a timing light....but know nothing about timing......could turning the car over without the dist cap and plug wires hooked up **** up the timing? what do i do and is it an all day thin? man this sucks.
the only way you could have moved the timing is if you loosened the 3 bolts that hold the dizzy to the head. to adjust timing you move the dizzy counter clockwise to advance and clockwise to retard. hook up the timing light to the number 1 spark plug wire and point the light at the crank pulley. youll see the marks.
maybe the rotor is backwards-- i have heard it is possible to put the rotor on either way. try taking the rotor mounting screw out, flip the rotor, and put the screw back in.
yea well my main thing was timing.....there was no way to get the set screw back in unless i turned the car over to get it on top.....but if that wont **** up timing maybe my plugs are fucked up even though i triple checed...the rotors on right its D shaped....
i triple checked the plugs...maybe im still wrong i even went by the haynes manual......its 3241...umm im using brand new 9.3mm apc plug wires and ngk v power plugs...i usually go stok on the wires but they were free.....and i also threw my old stock wires back on and it does the same thing.i dont get it.

theres no freakin way you can put the rotor on backwards... i guarantee you have the plug wires on wrong... the firing order is 1342
