B16 CRX fuel problems...
Hey Guys,
Looking for some insight for this problem that I'm having.
Start the car in the morning. Until it gets to operating temperature (about 15 minutes of driving or so) it runs decently but not perfect. Then I begin losing power in the mid-high range whenever the engine is under tourque. It just doesn't have any jump at all, and it is chucking unburnt fuel out the tail pipe.
I'm leaning towards a weak fuel pump not providing enough fuel flow, but it does seem to make good fuel pressure without any problems.
I check the fuel filter and changed it, I checked the injectors and replaced them with known working injectors, checked the dizzy and cap/rotor plugs and wires a little, didn't seem to be any problems. All of the vacuum hoses seem intact.
I'm not throwing a check engine light.
Is is possible that the main relay is lowering voltage to the fuel pump causing flow to lower? I know there's lots of problems with the main relay but generally it's an ON/OFF situation, and has to do with the car being turned off when it's hot. I havn't had a chance to check the voltage when it's acting up as I don't have a meter.
Anybody have this problem? My car is rusted to hell and I am not looking forward to replacing the fuel pump as I may end up junking the car due to the bill to have it fixed (new lines etc). What I do not want happening is for me to change the pump and find out it's something else somewhere. This is a delivery car and if it's out of service I have problems.
Insight?

bump for posting properly! told us all needed info and what you have checked already, sorry if i cant help, but it seems like a weak spark issue or timing being off, if you are getting enough fuel pressure how did you check did you have a guage? the reurn line could be partially plugged with rust or crap blow it out with compressed air and see if the air flows though easily or if it seems clogged, also could be compression, when hot it might be leaking do a leakdown check and compression check when hot
Yeah, I checked the fuel pressure with my regular mechanic and we took it for a ride... It's like something's sticking or... man, I don't know. Never thought of trying compressed air. I thought maybe the screen is partially blocked on the pump, and it's picking up **** in the tank. Can I blow air through the line coming fom the pump?
May be in my head, but I could have sworn that when it's really acting up I can hear something that sounds like pressure being released in the engine compartment when trying to push the motor hard... really worried that it's something internal.
The weird thing is, I swapped the injectors and the car still ran like ****. I let it sit for 20 minutes and started it again to bring over to the mechanics again and it ran awesome. We tried partially blocking the return line to up the fuel pressure, and ran the car and it was working perfect. We thought that maybe the filter was slowing flow so we changed it but it was pretty clean. I thought maybe everything was a fluke and it ran perfect for say... 25 miles and poof...same ****.
Timing is right. Set it at TDC and the cams are set properly.
I was under the assumption that when fuel pumps go they're like, on/off, not this acting up bullshit arrrgh!

Anybody help?
Has anybody cut to floor area around the small access in the floor in order to get to the fuel pump? I'm getting rid of the car in 6 months and I do not want to drop the tank!
