in my experiance an integra vs an ef si in equal trim the ef will be faster at autocross unless the course is dumb straight (3rd gear m-club type courses). on track, the gsr will be faster since there are less harsh transittions.

They are going to move the 99-00 Si down to H-Stock next year, and I think it would be pretty competition to the Mini's, so if you could find one of thoose the would be worth it if it is stock.

All things equal (say... Street Touring trim) the EF will be a better autocrosser simply due to its light weight.
On the track, the GSR wins because it can use its power on straights.

Except at tracks where the H4 lap record is faster than the H3 record

Put the same driver in both cars, with equal prep levels, and see if this is still true.

Depends on how far you want to go. What class do you intend to run?

If you're just looking to have a good time, then you're thinking way too far into this. Go out, enjoy your car, and have fun. You'll learn a lot. The car is definitely not bad. I've seen an STS '98 GSR with the right driver whoop on the '89 Civic Si's. They are heavy but with the right preparation they don't handle nearly as bad as it seems your friends believe.

Come back to this decision after a few more years, once you have some experience in driving events.

Pretend if you will, believe if you must, truth you do not face (my Yoda impression ) but from my experience w/ Seck's and Dubinski's GSRs, its no competition over the course of a full lap with either of them or their respective co-drivers. And I am comparing a pretty competent ITA CRX Si (and I think driven pretty competently as well) which over the course of a full lap is quicker than a comparably prepped EF Civic Si. I am not saying its an enormous differential but then again, top ITA cars at most tracks are only 1.5ish seconds off equally prepped ITS cars barring the top two or three 325s in our region (from my experience).
