You need to let the paint cure before putting exposing them to the elements. That's the only way I found to prevent them from fading. That or buying some already amber.

you need to clear them, clear will help with them fading, a spray clear is ok, the best would be a Automotive Clear, it will have the UV protection properties of your normal car paint job, and should last as long as paint does
