Default Kpro tuning issue, final step, 50 degree high speed cam angle........help

hey all im tuning an rsX with a fully built motor with the TODA engine kit

cams
T/B
pistons
DC5 R intake manifold
race header with no cat
AEM V2 intake
cams, and valvetrain

i got thru all of the tuning on the street, except for that LAST cam angle degree!!!!!

the high speed 50 degree cam angle, it is fine on the low speed, no issues, no knock, no detonation.

BUT

on the high speed 50 degree angle if i try to partial it or full throttle it, all i get is massive knock, and audible detonation, NO MATTER WHAT TIMING, AND FUEL I USE

i have even noticed i can make NO changes to it, and the detonation takes place in different spots in the rom band IE: 5500 one time, 7200 another, with no changes at all.........................................?WTF

are the cams to large to use or take advantage of the 50 degree cam angle????

im stumped, hizzelp!

If u can, try the reflash that comes with the toda n2 engine kit (assuming u ain´t using it) and work from there.

hmmmmm, never saw that, i started with a couple of the preloaded basemaps, but i hate doing that because if you look at some of the different ones, they have different cam angles in different places, all of them, so its like "okay, why did YOU use 30 degree here, when he used 50 on his" ya know. i always just start from scratch.

this is a customers car, so all i got was the K pro, the car, and a fully built motor, already installed. where is that engine flash available (probably from the site but im at work now and my computer sucks!)

and i ended up with one of the K pros that has the maD tyte connection issue!!!! damnit!!!

took 6 hours to street tune it

what are the specs on the motor and what kind of power you think you will be able to lay down? what other K motors have you tuned before and how did those turn out ?

the motor has the WHOLE toda engine kit,

11.5:1 pistons
TB
cams, and valvetrain
race heade=no cat
full exhuast
AEM intake
DC5R manifold
stock injectors
Kpro

hoping for 230@wheels somewhere in that range i guess

so far we have not been able ti use the 50 degree and cam@ high throttle, it just wont work. we have cut and pasted the 40s into the 50 and modified them and nothing will work, so we have limited oursleves to the 40s in high throttle.

i have tried every possible increment of timing, all the way from adjusting in .5 degrees all the way up to making 20% changes in timing, and nothing works.

we have also done an RSx-T set up that switched form guardian to Kpro, it made 385 with the cybernation entire kit, and Kpro, we did the return fuel system and all. car runs well.

we are on the dyno right now, i will post up results later

FIRST PULL ON THE DYNO, WOT, NO CAM ADJUSTMENTS WAS 201.7pk HP

adjustments are being made now, its a tad jumpy but thats why you have to correct all those DAMN cam angles!

Try PM'ing edo, he might be able to help you out. They have figured out some great things with cam angle, that he might be willing to share or hint to with you. BTW, your sig is hilarious lol.

sorry to bring back this thread, but whats the best way to go about street tuning the kpro stuff? My friend recently put a k20a integra type r motor in his ek hatch with rcrew header, rcrew manifold expander, 2.25" exhaust i believe and not sure which intake. I fooled around with the program for the first time on his car a little bit and i really like it. I'm just wondering what the best way to tune all the cam angle maps on the street is. Should I select edit all tables when making changes or should i take the longer route and tune each individual fuel map for every cam angle by locking the engine into one cam angle at a time?

Also he sais there is no calibration for his motor so he was just using a tuned map from somebody else. The map seemed to run very rich on his setup though...around 11.5:1 at wot. Any idea what would be a suitable calibration so i can start from scratch?

You really cannot truley tune cam angle on the street you pretty much need a dyno to do it correctly. Check hondata's website they have detailed video's and instructons on how to do it.

I know that you can't tune cam angle on the street. I'm just wondering about how to tune fuel. Whether or not i should lock it in each individual cam angle and tune the fuel maps or if i should just check the option to adjust every fuel map at once. I'm guessing that tuning each individual cam angle is the way to go because then once you get on the dyno and are tuning to see which cam angle works best at what rpm you don't have to worry about fuel changes when changing the cam angle.
