My 96 2 door teg has all bone stock stereo for now, except for a pioneer 50*4 deck. I have some audio components on my hands that i got for dirt cheap and some came with my car.
I have a set of Cerwin Vega 4" speakers for the front and a set of pioneer 6*9s for the back. I got them for dirt cheap and i am wondering if i should try to fit them in there somehow and save me some $$? or get rid of them and just buy new 6.5"s speakers and save me the trouble?
Also how do you think they will sound, as in will the 4"s be overpowered by the 6*9s? Which of the 2 routes would have a more quality sound to it with a nice mix of highs and lows?
I also have a JL W3 15" sub and a kicker 8" sub but i want to upgrade my speakers first, then decide where i stand on the bass and extra weight. I might just get rid of the both of these if i could get the speakers to sound good enough. Here are some pics of the components.

Thanks in advance. Sorry bout the massive pic, i dunno how to resize, and hopefully some of you guys know something about all those certain components.

Keep the sub, replace the 4" and 6x9s, although with an adpt. you could install the 4" in the front or rear, you will have a hard time fitting the 6x9s other the putting them in 6x9 box's or installing them on the security shelf, both kind of ghetto. If anything install the 4" in the rear as rear fill, and get a good set of 6.5" for the front.

Say i did put the 4" up front and squeeze the 6*9s in the back someway, would that sound pretty nice?. Oh yeah that 15" JL has a Massive box behind it. You can't really tell, but the back of the box is touching the door in the pic. I think i might use it for a bit then sell it.
Although it would be easy to fit the 4" in the front or rear stock locations, all you would need is a 1/2" MDF adpt. plate, and they would sound good, on the other hand without a hell of a lot of custom work there is no way to fit the 6x9s in the rear stock locations, and even more work in the front, and just jury rigging them in place will not give you very good sound, don't forget a properly mounted smaller speaker will sound way better then an improperly mounted bigger speaker.
That leaves you with the security shelf or box's, the box's will sound better then the security shelf, and no holes if you change your mind.

I'm not putting boxes in or putting anything in the security shelf. I guess i'll either have to buy some new speakers or just through the 6*9 back there improperly and see if i could live with that.
Where would i get an adapter for the 4", or could i just make one out of MDF.

I'm sorry bout i'm not very informed on the whole car audio thing. What exactly is an adapter? And how much would some quality 6.5" speakers cost me?
hmm... i say get rid of the 4" and the 6x9 speakers. throw on some decent 6.5 components up front powered by the h/u. then dont run any back speakers. and use the 15w3. by using this setup you'll get some decent sound imaging as well as some quality.

A pr. of good 6.5" speakers will cost $100 and up.
The easy least expensive way for you is to install the 4" in the rear with adpt. and get a set of "standard" 6.5" speakers for the front, you can also get a basic, [no tweeter] 6.5" speaker for the rear for under $50, you really don't want a tweeter in the rear anyway, in fact I would cut the tweets on the 4" if you install them.
