hp question for d16y8
I have a 00 civic EX with the d16y8 engine. I have a short ram intake with a DC Sports 4-2-1 one piece header, 2.25" exhaust from cat back. I'm going to get a bigger throttle body, high flow cat, profiled cam, and a skunk 2 cam gear (of course with new valves and valve springs). How much hp am I looking at after these mods? The engine comes stock with 127HP and 107 lbs of trq.
theres no real way to tell you how much you are going to get without proper dyno tuning. The d16 or "red headed step child of honda" as its sometimes known is a great platform and does run strong. These parts are not gonna sore you into the 200's for horsepower, but as i said, with careful tuning you are probably looking at an increase of about 25 horsepower depending on the aggressiveness of that cam shaft and your advancement or retardation of the cam gear. You might also wanna look at how you currently drive, if your a high rever, or perfer lower end torque cause the cam you select should reflect that, as should your cam timing. if your going with aftermarket valve and springs, you may also want to look into getting your rev limmiter kicked up a few hundred, cause with the upgraded valvetrain and cam, you should still pull well after 7400
