Why does it make a difference if you have a tach or not?

Have you tried asking in the Civic forum?

An autometer shift light install guide. Pretty simple.

You connect it to the tach signal input wire. And regarding the rpm's you should be able to switch out a little pill to set it.

If that's how it adjusts.

Mine is digital and just push a button sets the shift point. No pills.

Some also have a dial on the back that you can adjust. The pills seem to be growing obsolete.

I always wanted to do an Autometer behind an AC vent. Low profile style.

pick up an RPM switch for $40, buy any color LED you want with the appropriate resistor, put it anywhere you want. In the cluster works great for me.

Uberdata's shift light feature works well too.
