Default Proper way to install gauges (need to install 3 of em)

Hey guys,

I need to finish wiring up my gauges and I was wanting to know the best way to hook them up. I dont wanna do how I did it before or how people suggest and ghetto rig it.

Here is what I have left to wire up:

-Need to wire in the illumination lights for my boost and oil pressure gauge. So a 12V switched like my parking light., and a ground.

-Need to wire in oil pressure gauge. Need a good ground for the gauge and a 12V ignition switched. Can I share the same ground as my boost and oil pressure illumination?

-Need to wire in Nordskog temp gauge. Red wire to 12V ignition switched, and Black and Purple (dimmer) to ground. For the 12V ignition switched can I share the same one I use for my oil pressure gauge? and same thing with the ground, can I use the same grounding location as my illumination lights for boost/pressure and the oil pressure gauge?

The main thing I'm worried about is the 12V ignition switched. I want to know if I can take the wire coming from the oil pressure and water tempt gauge and join them together into one. Then from there I take the one wire and run it to my 12V ignition switched source.

TIA

yeah you can join them BUT you have to know what cicuit you're tapping into. if you tap into a 12v+ switch that runs thought a 10amp fuse, you may overload that fuse and have to step up to a larger amp rating.

ahh that's good to know. So if I was to fuse tap both of my gauge lights to the parking lights or headlights which I think are 10AMP I should probably go to a 15 amp fuse? or should I go to a 20 amp fuse?

And that leaves two other switched 12V sources I stil need to tap. I guess I could fuse tap one off of the ALT/SOL/VALVE fuse where I currently have a 30 amp fuse. What about the ECU fuse? can I tap off of that?

Is there something else I can do besides tapping the ALT/SOL/VALVE and ECU fuses for my 12V switched power?

Constant - Radio Fuse
Illumination - Headlight Fuse
Ground - Ground

There ya go.

Dont put a higher amp rated fuse into a lower rated fuse slot. Bad things happen.

cool, I was actually thinking about using the radio/cig lighter interior fuse for my 12V switched. I wanted my gauges to go on when the parking lights are on. I checked my fuses earlier but I cant remember if there was one for parking plights or not. If there isn't I'll just fuse tap the headlights.

For the ground should I ground it to the chassis or to the engine block/tranny?

Uh, like I said, do it for your headlights and they will illuminate with just one turn of your ****.. so it will be like parking lights.
