Default Bike overheating still!!!!!!!

So, I thought for a while that the low speeds that I was using while practing was causing my bike to run hot. Not the case.

While out riding at decent speeds with plenty of airflow, the bike gets very hot (just under red.) While stopped at a stop light it will stay at a steady temp, maybe drop a little, same as when cruising above 25ish. But when I accelerate away from a stoplight/sign seems to be when the temp shoots up.

I found out today that the fan fuse was blown, so I fixed that. That should help a little, but I still fear something else is wrong. The coolant looks "dirty" almost like there might be oil in it? What would cause this? Cracked block? Also, sometimes I'll get some SERIOUS clanking from the engine.

I think I'm going to pull the plugs tomorrow and see if maybe shes running really rich. This could cause engine temps to run hot correct? If so, can I adjust the carbs or something to remedy this?

The only other things I can think to check are the radiator cap, thermostat and water pump.

Anybody have any tests I can try to narrow down the possibilities? It doesn't seem to get hot if I just let it idle after start up, but maybe I should give it some more time to watch it.

Its a 94 cbr.

edit - I just let it idle for 7 or 8 minutes and it held steady at about 2/3 on the temp gauge. Once I started playing with the throttle though it started to go up.

Running lean will cause the bike to run a bit hotter. You may want to do a coolant flush to see if it helps.

Yeah I'd flush the coolant a couple times. A full tune up isnt a bad idea since its a pretty old bike, and most likely the previous owners didnt do much for it,

Actually it turned out replacing the fan fuse did the trick, but I'm still going to flush the coolant due to its dark cooler.

The engine does make a ton of noise though(valve adjustment needed maybe) especially on cold startups until the oil really gets circulated.

What kind of shops will do a tune up as far as valves, timing, etc?

I've done it all on my car....is it basically the same?
