But I'm like all way ahead on that...
And, at least on the road I'm going down, it can lead to...More Trouble!
This racing **** can consume you. It can do it to you with your full knowledge and enthusiastic consent. Or it can do it to you slowly, sneakily, and with your grudging acceptance or resignation.
I've gone thru phases of mania over the car racing thing, and been pulled on heavily by the nearly irresistable forces of "That looks like fun / That looks cool / I just GOTTA do That!"
And just when I think I've got things under what may only look to me like a semblance of control - I notice that I'm going krazy again.
Take a look at this:

and this:

I'm getting my Yamaha SRX ready to ride for the summer, and I'm planning on using some track day to learn to ride pavement, and, well...yada-yada-yada...I've got a giant hard-on for SuperMoto.
Jennifer just got done giving me that most perfect talking to about the very phenomenon that's got me - she's no stranger to these forces either. It is quite simply about limits, and remembering what your primary goal is and not compromising your progress toward it with additional unneccessary pursuits.
Scott, who has to admit that what he had in mind when he wrote "primary goal" looks suspiciously like an "unneccessary pursuit".

It's as easy as riding a tricycle. I knew that was what the knee was for.

I'll buy those Motons off you. I'll even chip in for shipping.

Alternately, I've got a great infomercial I'm working on... "How to blow up your motor and turbo in 4 easy weekends"... you might need that in HU.

What on Earth makes you think I'd be interested in selling my prized Motons?
Why I'm so fond of them I can't even bring myself to actually install them.
You must be confused.
This isn't one of those either/or types of insanity.
No, it's of the I'll have all of the above type.
And yeah, bummer about what bumps a poor fellow into HU. Specially one dumb enough to say something like "But it don't even make it that much faster!"
Scott, who will be looking for SuperMoto magazine this weekend...maybe if I just get in a little deeper the fever will break...

funny that it's called the latest crazed. It's been around in france for about 20 years. It's known there are SuperMotard - at least it was when I was still living there 17 years ago. My, does time fly.

Indeed it is funny. Started here in the U.S. over 20 years ago, but they called it SuperBikers then. Didn't catch on though. Although it did catch on in France BIG TIME and was nurtured for the most part over there, but of course those crazy french like to resist "englishification" and named it SuperMotard. SuperMoto seems to be the catch phrase now. It just started to catch back on here I guess around '02 and it seems to have the momentum of a freight train here lately especially this year which is why I consider it the "latest rage" Mainly because the last track event I went to on my bike was the first time in the four years I've been side by side with a Honda CRF450R, Suzuki DR-Z400SM etc....
Does anyone actually remember the "Super Bikers" race that use to air on ABC at Carlsbad Raceway in the 80's?

Yep - I do. Or at least the contemporaneous magazine coverage.
I can picture Steve Wise on a Honda RC-whatever.
I didn't "get it" at the time - and I still don't "agree" with mixing asphalt and dirt - but the idea of working one of these around a kart track is very appealing.
Scott, who's surprised to see himself getting excited by this stuff again...just goes to show that the first hit off the GFCP leads inevitably to the next one.

Whoa. Looks like you've fallen very deep into the rabbit hole, my friend. I'd a never thunk that the new angle (er, detour by way of motorcycle) of your Plan was SuperMoto. Assuming Jennifer is your lovely wife: God Bless Her. I'm too am blessed to have a spouse that helps me define and pursue personal goals, and helps reign me in when I've gone "off course."
One question for you, Scott: How many "primary goals" is one allowed to have?
Casey, inspired by Scott's latest disclosure and now wants to be a copycat and tell his own story. So, me thinks I'll go click some pics to document the fact that my newest "race vehicle" comes complete with a sequential "shifter."

Okay, so I have one more question: Do these SuperMoto race vehicles turn right, or only left? Hmmmm. Anyone else see the similarities?

You are getting Circle Dirt Track and SuperMoto confused. SuperMoto is road racing and motocross combined

Scott: You may procede w/ vim and vigor. And you have my blessings.
