Was just wondering, was there ever a model of CRX which came with power steering? the 1991 perhaps?

 

Not in the US. I believe that was a JDM only deal.

 

oh? coz i've been looking for a crx and a couple of classifieds i've run across claim to have p/s. i dont know how valid that claim is coz i had a 89 crx si and that definitely didn't have it.

or maybe a Canadian model

 

And I have a 91, and it also definitely doesn't have it. If any of them would have it, it would probably be the ones with the automatic transmission, but it's been so long since I've seen one of those I can't remember if they had it or not.

I personally wouldn't trade my manual steering for anything. If you REALLY wanted power steering, you can probably put it in. That would be at least a little interesting to have.

yeah, some civic sedans have power steering, you could swap it in if you wanted.

 

I'n Canada most automatic model have p/s. Japan SIR and zc models had p/s, and many European models have the option too.

 

Its really not that hard to put p/s in a crx

 

what if the car had a b16 swap? still possible or would thre not be enough room?

 

Yeah I think there would be enough room to make it work.

 

i heard automatic Dxes had it in the US

maybe for a sedan, I had a 90 CRX DX had manual steering, I never saw one myself?

 

In canada we were offered a special edition crx, and Im sure that they offfered powersteering in that model, or it was an option.

pull the p/s steering pump/belt. all lines and steering rack off a 88-91 civic with p/s.

put them on your car....done

Nope. None of the Canadian CRX's had power steering. Not even the DX's with Automatic transmissions.

i baught a jdm b16a from Hmotors and it came with the power steering pump and bracket. if anyone wants it pm me

the parts list people gave is a little incomplete

you also have to switch over the crossmember that the steering rack sits in.

so, that's

crossmember
steering rack
hoses/lines
pump
bracket
belt
crank pulley (?) i don't know if it piggybacks on the ac or what
reservoir


if i remember right, there was a problem with some automatic tranny crossmembers fitting with manual trannies, but my friend had a b16 in his hatch that had power steering.
