Default Is a 2-way alarm worth it?

I was thinkin bout spendin 500 on a two-way alarm installed by a dealer so i can get the lifetime warranty and all that, and ppl are tellin me not to do it. They arent any more secure than an alarm with all the same features and not the pager, but what good would the pager do? if someones breakin in, if i go runnin to my car what if the dude has a gun (Which someone hwo robs cars probably does)?? That would suck haha. And if it gets stolen just make sure u have hella good insurance, right? Idk, i still want to get it but now im havin second thoughts!

First off, get a Directed unit. They are the best. This would be Viper, Clifford, Python, Sidewinder etc... Anyways, I have the 791xv and it works great. The pager actually works a really long distance. I never really believed in them before now, but it is kinda neat. Only works line of sight though for the most part.

The line of sight issue is a notable flaw with the 2-way design.

IMO, id say either go all out with gps or sms system, or get a standard alarm with a number of additional sirens, backup battery and other extras.

A pager on an alarm is just what it is, another layer of protection like an extra siren. It does not mean that you go running out to your car and grab the crack head breaking in anymore then if you see him doing it, I mean he may not have a gun, maybe just a knife, or maybe he knows kung fu, and he can kick the **** out of you, or maybe he is some little **** and you and you pal are linebackers on your High-school football team, and you kick the **** out of him and get his blood on you and he has Aids, I know of no reason to run out and confront a crook breaking into your car, when yelling will send him running most of the time anyway. I mean why take the chance 94

The compustars have longer range than the vipers... All IVe heard is good things about them.
Personally I have a viper 690XV or whatever it is, it works pretty well, its never failed me or anything like that, I only wish the remotes battery life coiuld be longer.

compustar's have a much longer range than others, but you pay for it. I have a directed alarm, and I like it. I live in an apt, so its nice to have your keys tell you if your alarm is the one going off, or something to wake you up if you have to park on the other side of the lot one night. I say get one, just don't stop with the anti-theft measures, you can never have too many.
