HOW HIGH CAN I REV MY STOCK LS RODS
swap out your rod bearings for factory b16a bearings of the same color as they are a trimetal bearing and can take more abuse than the ls bearings. Upgrade to arp rodbolts and you should be fine.
purple terror i gotta hand it to u ,ur a ****** genoius when it comes to motors,if we didnt talk **** to each other id say u can biuld my motor and i can race since ur fat and tall and would slow the car down
id never rev a ls to 8grand. Think about the rod ratio , 1.54? thats low.. too low for 8grand. bearings and rod bolts too.
Sure you can rev a ls to 8grand, how much, how often and how long is the question..

Exactly, you dont know about this one. What are you talking about"no oil hole" ls and b16a rod bearings are the same size, the b16a's are a better material. Acl's are ok if you are within the green tolerance range. I prefer to stick with oem.

ARP rod bolts will save you life. I use ACL but OEM's(B16) are fine.

I've reved my LS with stock rods and bolts to 9500rpm without a problem for over a year.
I think it all depends on the amount of miles on the motor if it has low miles then go for it.
If it has high miles then rebuild it.

I have kinda the same question, but I'm loooking for RELIABLE rev lol, I dun wanan do 9000 because it can take it, I wanna do 8 if it's not killing my motor. I only have on car, and it's this one. IIf I blow the motor.. I'm screwed lol. I dun have the $ right now for a second car either. I need my setup to be reliable. This was good info though.
i thought ls and b16 rod bearing were the same
but anyways i had the machine shop notch the rods so i can run the smaller gsr/itr rodbearings with the factory coating on them. i also run arp rod bolts and had the rods resized for the bolts

I also would want a reliable ls/vtec motor. Mine would only be a mild build with 8k in mind as well. Do I really *need* new rods and pistons? Or can I just replace the rod bolts, headstuds, oil pump, water pump, ect. ect. Or is there more to it?

No you don't need new pistons, OEM honda pistons are great. Pick up a set of P30 pistons, Rod bolts, GSR/ITR Oil pump and water pump, you'll be just fine.
