what is the function of the...
check valve? I mean you can use fish tank parts...what does this thing do? i know you can buy the real part to replace, missing link i believe, what do these things do?
*** i realize this may be a dumb question to you turbo veterans, but searching for check valve doesnt really yeild me the answers im looking for

They divert any boost headed to the MAP sensor and vent it out a small pin size hole, hence the MAP see's no boost. Honda ECU's were not designed with boost recognition, so if the MAP tells the ECU we've got positive pressure, the ECU freaks out and throws a CEL (not to mention comletley ignored the MAP sensor from this point on making the car a real bizzatch to drive
)
)
thanks man!.....but doesnt the hondata allow the ecu to read boost? wouldnt having a hondata eliminate the need for this?
hondata adds boost tables to the ecu....so when the map sensor starts shows positive manifold pressure the ecu knows how much fuel and timing to give unlike the stock ecu which only has data for vaccum. So the check valve stuff isn't needed.
