Overheating... please help ASAP
Hey all. So I'm driving with my fiance to look at a CRX for her to buy and I notice steam coming out of my hood on both sides. The last time this happened my radiator hose broke, so I checked my temperature gauge and everything was fine.
We pull over and notice that the hose in the picture below was broken and spewing steam/liquid.

As you can see I replaced the hose a while later.
Now the problem is my engine keeps overheating. I drove it a mile and I was reaching 3/4 on my temperature gauge so I pulled over. I was low on coolant (probably from the broken hose) so I decided to add more. I filled the overflow tank to "full" and started driving again. Sure enough, overheating again. We pulled over and put some coolant directly into the radiator. Started driving again and sure enough, after about 1/2 miles I was approaching bad territory (3/4 on the temperature gauge).
I pushed the car home.
What can I do to fix this? Could the broken hose have damaged anything else like the termostat? I'm getting extremely pissed at myself for buying this car as i keep having issues like this. Someone PLEASE tell me what to do to fix it and I'll give you a
as a reward.

bleed your radiator properly.
didnt you say you blew your head gasket before recently? maybe your mechanic did a shoddy job and it blew again, especially after driving around already overheating.

maybe, but filling the overflow tank is not the proper way of filling the radiator. if you didnt fill your radiator and bleed properly, you didnt finish the job of "fixing" that leaking hose.

can anyone tell me what hose this is? I'm assuming it has something to do with the cooling system. I'm asking just out of curiousity now. I'm a car n00b, so please bare with me.

it could be air but it could also be the thermostat, anytime the car overheats it should be replaced because there is a fail safe on i,t it is a little piece of metal that melts when it gets too hot and allows coolant by, whether the problem is the thermostat or not it should be replaced if the car overheated
very sound advice. Thanks for helping the newb.
Tomorrow morning I am going to bleed my radiator, flush it, and refill it with coolant (50/50, of course). I'll also go to Autozone and get a new thermostat for the car.

Kinda hard to see cuz of the angle of the pic... But my best guess is it goes to the IACV (Intake Air Control Valve), its a sensor that lets in coolant, and depending how hot or cold it is, it adjusts your idle accordingly... This hose runs thru the intake manifold, and then to another hose, then to the IACV... Not sure why it goes thru the IM, but I seem to remember, a while back there was a mod somewhere saying if eliminate that and just connect the 2 hoses together it will help the engine run better somehow...
