try gm or redline fluid

alternatively doublt clutching will save your synchro and prevent the noise.

the grinding is caused by the honda synchoniser and the selector collar not by the gears per se.

It often happen at high rpm. It's the inherent problem in our gearbox/synchoniser design. It helps with gm or redline fluid but if it gets very bad you will need to order new synchro.

Alternatively you can get a dogbox and you will not have to face this problem or gear failure. This is not cheap or readily available solution though.

the prototype dogbox and twinplate clutch costs me $AUD 9000 so far ...not counting the cost of labour.

The good new is that it should be done by early next week

If your going to have a daily driver a dog box wouldnt be ideal. If you were having a purpose built track car a dog would be ideal.

My 2nd gear never grinds but it always feels 'notchy' every time I shift into 2nd. Its getting annoying and I might take it to Honda

A friend of mine was having problems with his and he tried both Gm sychro and Redline. Redline much smoother and better for your tranny, or so I've heard.

Have you tried calling a local transmission shop for the synchro??? If they have it, most likely it would be cheaper than OEM.

I used NEO in my civic and after it shifted like butter, it almost eliminated the grinding all together.

Haven't put it in the S2K (just past the break in a couple of days ago)
