Default lowering options: coilovers vs lowering springs/shocks

I know this is a newbie question, but I'm confused which path I should take with my R. I want to lower it , not drastically but atleast to remove the some of the wheel gap. I have a budget of around $800 CDN. I'm getting mixed opinion from people about coilovers making my car feel 'like ****' and then other people saying lowering springs will do that. The options I was proposed was going with lowering springs (eibach, teins..etc) but going with an aftermarket suspension as well (ex: koni's). My real interest with the coilovers are adjustable height, if I ever need to raise it again. I'm not really planning to take it to the track that much, nor do I care about it being stiff. I plan to drive it every day but i'm not really picky about how stiff the ride is as long as its not overkill. My main interest here is to lower the car, while keeping the way it handles.

any opinions or ideas on what i've already heard? or perhaps other suggestions?

it sounds like something along the lines of the omnipower street setup would be well suited to your needs. it's a full coilover system composed of a (non-adjustable) threaded aluminum shock meaning you'll have the ride height adjustablity that you're looking for. also, it is priced within your budget and i've heard nothing but good reviews in regards to their build quality. hope this helps....

for the record, i'm running spoon springs on stock shocks and it absolutely sucks.

go buy yourself USED mugen lowdowns
many of h-t members moved on from mugen lowdowns
some of them barely drove w/ them and u'll b able to pick it up for fraction of new set.
also, if your looking for affordable adjustable height/damping coilovers
search for BodykitsNW. andy over @ bodykitsnw will get you k-sport 36way adjustable coilovers for around $800 if i remember correctly.
you can also pick out spring rates for the springs too.
