Default 92 tranny

i have a 92 accord wagon lx with an auto tranny and the selecter wont move from park to anyother gear, but if pulled hard enough on the selector you can move the gear out of park, as in the car will start rolling. I am wondering if my tranny is shot or if its just the selector assembly or if its the selector cable.

you try moving the selector with the key in the slit on the shifter console?? How was it driving before you had this problem? How long ago was this problem?

yea its definatley something wrong with the tranny, or assemblies, the car has 218,000 miles and this problem has only gotten really bad this summer. The car during the winter while the car was cold, would stall because the tranny was obsorbing all of the torque. This only gets bad when its hot and humid.

Check your shifter assembly. Check if you have ATF in your tranny.

well i know that i have atf in it, i think that its either the assembly, the computer, the shifting solenoid, or the selector cable. if anyone can hint to one way or another that would be great

I'd say it was the selector cable.
I've heard that it has a tendency to get fouled up with rust, etc... and not want to shift out of park easily. I've found that to be the problem on my car. I plan to replace it eventually, but I've got to tune it up and do the timing first. You can get the part for about $119 at Autozone.

BTW, I just got my '91 Accord EX wagon and I love the damn thing!
