changing the exhaust housing on a sc61 from .63a/r to .48a/r
i was thinking about changing the exhaust housing from .63a/r to .48a/r. so i can get a faster spool on my stock ls motor. if i do this will i need to also change out the turbine wheel on the exhaust side? and does anyone know where i can get a brand new exhaust housing and maybe the turbine wheel if i need it?
Yes U have to change the turbine too because it is physically smaller which also means it will need to be rebalnced, why not do headwork, bigger exhuast?
The turbine wheel doesn't need to be changed if all you're changing is the exhaust housing. Just make sure you order one for the Stage 5 wheel like you have on your SC61.

I did this, good ****!!!
Trim and stage wheel is what matters when switching housings.

I want to try upgrading my turbine housing too but without upgrading my turbine fan. Aside from trial-and-error, how can I find out what trim/stage wheel I have?
I have a Precision T3/T4E. When I ordered the kit I specifically asked for a hotside with a 0.63 a/r which it has. And I also asked for a stg 3 wheel, but I dont know if I got that or not so I'm not sure if I have it or not. All I know about my current turbine housing is it has a 2.5" outlet.
can I measure the diameter of the turbine fan or something?
