ok i'm driving home from work and the lights in the inside starts dimming, i did not pay much attention to it but 10 seconds later my head unit and my radar dies and it is now very dim so i drive 5 minutes home no problems except for the dimming and my head unit trying to trun on every 5 sec. get home and i turned off the car and tried to restart it and it won't start so i'm thinking mybe distributor or the altantor. i waited 5 mins and tried to start it agian and it turned on but when the head lights are on the head unit turns off and vice versa. any ideas on what the problem is?

 

its your battery, it's not holding a consistant 12v+ anymore.
And if replacing your battery doesnt solve it, check the current when the car is running. Should read 14v+
Batterys DO go bad, they get old, they stop working.

 

CHECK THE CONNECTIONS TO THE BATTERY POST. MAKE SURE THE CONNECTION AT THE ALTERNATOR IS GOOD AND DOUBLE CHECK YOUR GROUNDS.

 

my friend told me to start the car and unplug the battery terminals and if the car dies its the altanator i got the battery less then a year ago tho

 

Alternator is shot, take that and your battery to an advance/discount auto or autozone and have them tested

 

u guys r crazy check ur alternator fuse under the steering wheel ...garunteed
