Default tell me about the stock 1987 crx SI

I searched and i found it came with the D15A3 is that correct? Also is that a Vtec motor and also what are its pro's and cons. How is is injected? DOHC or SOHC?Hows the motor for building and boosting etc. I have searched and i came up with "Not a good motor for an all motor car."

Hey ur correct about the D15A3. No it is not a Vtec motor. Its a really old design but a proven one.. It has 93hp from the factory with MPFI.. Its a decent motor if u want to spend a little money on IE intake, header, exhaust will help it out.. Ive also heard of people boosting them and not workin to badly.. If your looking for power a B series swap is very doable. good luck.

No matter what anybody says that's good about the motor, it's still a 1.5liter SOHC. Just save up and drop in a b16, not sure if they have mounts for it though. But if not custom fab some mounts and drop that sucker in...Hmm ssounds like a sleeper.

Some would argue that it's a sturdier design then the newer D-series blocks. And they handle boost very well(for a Honda).

Thank you for the Information guys.

I couldn't find much on my own. The car will be staying stock for this year but when the dsm is finally done i will start this one.

At 8.7 to 1 comp ratio sounds pretty boost friendly. I did like the idea of a b16 but then agian the goal is a 13's car nothing crazy possible RHD conversion.
