rear trailing arm bushing, where can i get it cheaper?
Hello all, I own an 89 Civic SI and I need to replace the rear trailing arm bushing. I seached the forum and found the part number 52385-SR3-000. So, I called up DCH Kay Honda in Eatontown, NJ and was quoted $78.23 each. Is this price reasonable? or is there somewhere else I can purchase a pair of this bushing for cheaper?
Ok, in another post it suggested the sites
http://www.slhondaparts.com
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com
After using those 2 sites, what is the rear trailing arm bushing specifically labeled as?
from the menus..
"rear lower arm"
now which part?

Taken from "Redshift Motorsports" site:

"Mugen Rear Trailing Arm Bushings - Energy Suspension makes a cheap trailing arm bushing that I really don't recommend... you have to reuse the inner metal piece and the results have consistently been very suspect. Prothane makes a nice complete poly bushing, but it's more expensive and I think the Mugen's are a better design (using rubber). There is some deflection required of this bushing that the Prothane ones don't provide. For the best result, these Mugen bushings are exactly like the OEM bushings, except that the rubber is stiffer. Please check your bushings because you might find this bushing ripped or otherwise destroyed on most older cars. Highly recommended for all cars. We purchase these from King Motorsports, and the Retail is $115 or so... we get a very small discount and when you add shipping, we have to sell it for the listed price to make a sale worthwhile... just FYI.
$130 pair"
Hope that helps. I need to do this soon too. I was going to go with an ES, or Prothane master bushing kit for everything else except the engine mounts. Does anyone have any direct experience with the Mugen bushing? Seems like a good deal to me...

I have never seen proof with any durometer numbers (measure of compression for rubber and plastics) outside of prothane and energy sus. A mugen piece held up next to a new honda piece has ZERO visable differences, and using my thumbnail to push on the rubber I could feel no difference in resistance.
I think that the primary advantage the mugen bushings offer over honda is that you are able to order everysingle individual part without fighting the guy behind the parts counter (as most of them will tell you, "you cant order the bushings separate from the arms)

search on here for the correct part number, that is the only way to get it on the online honda stores...its about $75 for the pair...that is a hell of a markup at your local dealer...100% markup is bullshit...
