Default Radiator in Back By Trunk

Has anyone ever heard of putting a radiator in the back and running a long *** coolant line to the front.....On my crx is it possible to put the radiator behind the rear bumper support and cut holes in the bumper for airflow?

If you put it between your rear bumper support and the bumper your bumper isn't going to fit properly. Plus that is just one more hose that could have a major problem if it is that long. Plus your not going to get much cooling back there. I really think it sounds like a terrible idea. I'm sure that you are just trying to get room in the engine bay but that is not going to achieve what you are trying to do. You could run a whole lot of heat sink down the frame and attempt to cool it that way and add some more weight to your car. All in all I say leave the radiator where it is.

Waste of time and effort...leave it where it is.

Something similar has been done in old school Fiat 600s race cars. I've been in several. Rear engine, rear wheel drive, front mount radiator. Inside the car, you see two hot pipes across the whole car going to the engine. Seriously.

Those were aircooled and did not have a radiator. Like just about any aircooled car prepared for racing (beetle, 356, 911, etc), oil coolers were added and put in the front, since that's where the airflow is. I can't see why anyone would want to move the radiator to the back, as it seems like it would be a recipe for surefire overheating and would add a considerable amount of weight.

These cars were water cooled. I've seen the radiator and the reservoir.

1.5" thick metal tubes were their coolant lines.

im overheating at high boost because i cant fir a full size radiator in there....and i also wanna add a custom a/c system so i was thinking of running the radiator to the back...between the bumper support..and putting a rear bumper diffuser on to give it air...and putting a small condenser in the front

i'm going to assume you have a half size in there... block off the other half with metal to force air through the radiator you have now.... without the block off air will take the less restrictive route and not pass through the half size radiator.

btw, the all motor Honda Challenge cars have issues with half size radiators with no boost... the only cars that really get away with are the guys that have the non-AC civic hatch block offs on their hatches. i dont know if that works for the EF, but i know it was a EG+ factory part on non-AC cars.

Also look at adding a water additive like water wetter or something of that nature. That may also help you. But he ^ has it right block off part of the radiator support and it should bring it through the radiator.

go with a V- MOUNT!!! that'd be pretty sweet, but I highly doubt our little cars have enough room... but regardless, that'd be awesome/original/sweet/lots of *****

NOt worth it, if you REALLY wanted to move the Rad. Do it like the drag cars, have it pointing down. More Fabrication, but Works\looks better then in the rear.

eh... sounds like you are trying too hard to be original and "custom".

What kind of half size are you using? A run of the mill dual core half sized should be fine. Just use less coolant more water and put in some water wetter.

If the Autozone etc rads don't work... than a fluidyne I'm sure will be up to the challenge.

Or maybe run a pusher AND puller fan on the rad.

Oh and as far as overheating on high boost... check ur tune... you might be running lean as a ************ etc.

Then I hope you like rust, if you use all water.

I dont see why it would not work, you could do it but its gonna take some custom fabbing of some parts, Just think, it WILL work if you can get it in there, my MR2 has the Radiator in the front but the motor is in the rear sooo....

But unless you plan on driving backwards, there won't be the same amount of airflow passing through the radiator.

Waste of Time and money IMO.
