Parts of PRELUDE engine
HI i am wondering about all the parts under the hood in a prelude vtec dohc and what they do
Help me add more to the list and of what they do
i am missing any details about a part and got the wrong info plz correct me
i am a new to cars and just want to know more plz help
please include pictures or websites that can help me understand
H22a engine - 190 hp, torque?, compression?, weight?,
Vtec- is this a chip or part of the head unit? can anyone show me a link with a picture of it
Block-bottom of the engine
Head gasket - keep oil from leaking out, if thicker can decrease compression
Pulley- ??? increase hp
pully belt- ???
intake- bring cold air into the engine, increase hp
Header - increase hp, attaches to what? header to somethign to downpipe to something to muffler
Distributer- charges the battery
Starter - starts the engine
Clutch - grabs the transmission into gear?, can increase hp and torque
Flywheel - turns the cam shafts, allow rpms to go up faster
clutch disks - ????
cam shafts - makes pistons go up and down, the longer the more torque
Input shaft- ????
rod - attaches the cam shafts to the pistons
pistons - if the head is flat it can decrease compression
sparkplugs - ignite the gas
ignition- ??????????
master slave - something with the clutch?
intake manifold - ????
manual transmission - ??????
ecu - controls how much gas is used? hp?, torque?

H22a1 engine - 190 hp, 158 ft/lbs of torque
Vtec- (Variable valve Timing and lift Electronic Control) Its not part of a head unit because when I turn off my radio, I can still hear it above 5k RPM. Just go to HowStuffWorks.com and look it up.
I give up! Frankly, you know less than nothing. It would have been so much better if you left a blank after the word. The first couple ones were funny, but after that I started getting angry. You really just need to look this stuff up. Google everything.
Spark plugs is the only thing you got semi-right.
Maybe someone with more patience can finish this. There is no flame suit that can handle what you may get.
BTW How old are you?

H22a engine - 190 hp, torque?, compression?, weight?,
(depends on if its JDM or not, US & JDM have diff Comp)
Vtec- is this a chip or part of the head unit? can anyone show me a link with a picture of it
(a house phone & its called VTECH)
Block-bottom of the engine
(the thing pistons go in.)
Head gasket - keep oil from leaking out, if thicker can decrease compression
(seals the head to the block,)
Pulley- ??? increase hp
(aftermarket ones can reduce drag)
pully belt- ???
(belt that goes around the pulley)
intake- bring cold air into the engine, increase hp
(the pipe & filter that connects to the T/B, which the motor sucks air through)
Header - increase hp, attaches to what? header to somethign to downpipe to
something to muffler
(Aftermarket Headers generally increse HP, connects to the cat, then resonator, then muffler, if its stock. Only turbo cars call it downpipes.)
Distributer- charges the battery
(Distributes SPARK to the SPARK plug wires)
Starter - starts the engine
(congrats
)
Clutch - grabs the transmission into gear?, can increase hp and torque
(no. does not increase hp & tq, a lighter one may free up some drag, or a better gripping one can get the power to the ground better.)
Flywheel - turns the cam shafts, allow rpms to go up faster
(bolted to the crank, this is what the clutch bolts to and grabs onto.)
cam shafts - makes pistons go up and down, the longer the more torque
(They open & close the valves)
Input shaft- ????
(of?)
rod - attaches the cam shafts to the pistons
( connects pistons to the crank )
pistons - if the head is flat it can decrease compression
sparkplugs - ignite the gas
(ignites the mixture within the combustion chamber of Fuel +Air)
ignition- ??????????
master slave - something with the clutch?
(WTF master slave? its either Master or Slave not both)
intake manifold - ????
( where air goes after the intake, and divides into each cyclinder* careful YOU may blow the welds on it.)
manual transmission - ??????
(from mexico, uh self explainitory if its not automatic then its manual)
ecu - controls how much gas is used? hp?, torque?
(controls the functions of the motor, such as fuel, timing, blinker fluid , etc..)
hmm I hope I'm somewhat correct, like a quiz at school. entertaining for a bit..next time look in the faq section, lucky for you I'm bored.

yea the first thing i thought when i was about to respond was "quiz.."
You're correct..
to elaborate on the 'manual transmission'
it is a Planetary Gearset (google it) that allows the motor to use the same amount of revolutions (RPM) of the flywheel to increase the vehicle speed.
its kind of like this::
|
| |
| | |
| | | |
| | | | | <-- Google: "Gear Ratio"
1 2 3 4 5
The difference between manual and auto is that YOU select the gear through every round of acceleration vs a hydraulic system (torque converter) controlled by the ECU selecting the gears for you.
Glad you wanna learn, but this is all stuff you can easily learn through context when you search
for all the people who have anything negative to say-- you gotta start somewhere

Good Lord! I was once like you and knew nothing, but I did some RESEARCH and found out the answers myself instead of asking for it to be spoon-fed to me.

LOL, I think my blinker fluid maps are messed up.
Since you are a noob, please also remember that neon/led lights (in any form), giant wings, body kits, hood scoops, z3 fenders, clear taillights, 5" exhaust tips, and stickers for parts you do not own will not help you go faster. Those parts only make your car look slower, and attract attention from theives.
BTW, search this site. You'll find the answer to anything you need to know that's honda related in the archives.

WHAT?!?!? I was assured that the neon lights, 8' wing, and M4D TYTE stickers along with my coffee can exhaust added at least 569847362273849 hp....

seriously, but dont post questions like that here, or you'll get flamed. go to google or any search engine and you'll find a shitload of info by just reading
