I have a 95 Accord EX (auto) 140,000 miles. What Oil would protect and do the best 10W-30 or 5W-30? Thanks.

 

In AZ ? I would use 10/30 year round !

 

In my owners manual it says I may use 10W-30 in an area that never goes below 20F, well in Arizona its HOT, ju know, anyways the manual says 5W-30 is Preferred. But living in Arizona should I use 10W-30? Looking for the best protection/peformance. Thanks!

 

I think Mobil 1 is hard to beat. You can get it at Sam club for less than $4 a quart and you can run it 8 to 10 thousand miles if your engine is in good shape. It also keeps the inside of your engine clean as a whistle. Great in my Honda Accord and Mazda Miata. Try it you'll like it.

 

in north carolina, i run 10w30 reg mobil in the spring and summer, and in the winter, i run 5w30 for my 95 accord

 

I am in Pennsylvainia and have 132K on my 93 what is a good 1 for me? GTS High Mileage or Syntetic??

If your engine is old i wouldnt recommend synthetic. It isnt going to do you much good. You might as well save the money and buy normal oil.

I use 10W30 year round in Texas.

 

I use O-30 gc in my 1996 accord vtec -- satterfield

 

How much is for royal purple 10/30? I use Mobil1 10/30 synthetic year round for my 01 accord v6

Do you have UOA's to back that up? Or are you just going on "how smooth my engine ran!" ???

Mobil 1 has a tendency to thin out after around 2,000 miles and become a 20 weight oil. Hardly something I'd want in my engine for 8k.

 

Mobil 1 synethic is the only TRUE synthetic you will find on the shelves at wal mart. Everything else is a blend marketed as a synthetic and at synthetic prices (you can thank Castrol for that sort of marketing crap).

I use Mobil 1 synthetic in my 264k accord but I still change it out every 3k due to the problems mentioned in my prior post; thinning.

I use amsoil in my Type-R. It's more expensive but it's probably the best oil you can buy right now. If you go to bobistheoilguy.com, you can read more.

 

For one after using it (Royal Purple) for about 30k miles and having an extremely dirty motor before, it almost looks clean enough to eat off of now. Plus my motor did run much smoother with it vs. Mobil-1. Plus the gas mileage went up dramatically.

Dunno how you can attribute that to an oil. Gas mileage is dependent on a lot of things and oil is probably has the least effect. Weather, humidity, tire pressure, driving habits, etc etc, can all be attributed to a difference in gas mileage.

How do you know you had a dirty motor? Have you torn it down and gone inside? Sorry, but there's something to be said about an oil that has purple dye in it and comes out brown/black.

I also believe you were justifying the cost of Royal Purple with your statement of "it runs so much smoother". Explain to me how oil will make an engine run smoother.

And an oil making the outside of the engine clean would be pure Magic ... would'nt it ?
