What to look for when buying a crx?
Hey all I plan on buying a CRX with the intent of in the future putting in a D16Z6 just for kicks. I don't really know much about the CRX so what should i look for when buying a used one? Also would it be fine if i buy one that has mileage with around 200 thousand then swaping in a lower mileage D16Z6?

- Look for excessive oil around dist mounts, could indicate a dist bearing problem = need to buy new dist.
- Make sure it runs
Rust
- Bring a magnet w/ you to test for Bondo
- Look for rust around rocker panels (thats the part of the bottom door frame)
- Rust around Rear fender lips.
- Rust UNDER the rear bumper
- rust around edge of sunroof (if Si). if its bad it could cause a leak
Misc
- Touch all over the carpet and look for wet spots, could indicate rusting out the floor.
- Climate control cracked (as mentioned above, but doesnt affect usability)
- Look for over spray around engine bay. like on the headlight trim and ANY weather stripping. This could indicate a collision and a BAD repair job.
Have fun with your crx!

also, i've seen this a lot lately, where the subframe in the back of the car is bent in from "drifting" it into a curb. it is fixable at a frame shop, for a few hundred dollars, but keep it in mind. just glance under the car and make sure that it looks the same on both sides.
also, look for shitty wiring. you shouldnt have this problem unless the car is a ricer-mobile, but still check. many people do wiring conversions to accept better engines but just cut and twist wires and stuff.

Good point...wish I would have thought about this point when I got my rex. Found that my rex hit a couple things when I took off the bumper and fenders...damn.
