Dizzy problem: New, Reman, or Plan C?
During the Sunday HC race at Summit, I got a "check engine" light about half way thru. Pressures and temps were OK, so I went ahead and finished. Just got a chance to read the code today, and it's a 9 - "No. 1 Cylinder Position", also described as "A problem in the CYL circuit of the TDC/CRANK/CYL Sensor".
Following the CRX manual's troubleshooting guide, I checked the resistance in the CYL circuit of the sensor and got max resistance, like there is no circuit at all. The book says "Replace the distributor assembly".
So. Any way to fix this short of a new Dizzy? Any opinions on new (around $400.00) or remanufactured ($200.00 or so)? Should the car have kept running at all with this problem?

Distributor King advertises on this site. I've heard nothing but good things about their products and customer service. I can't seem to get their site to show up in anything other than French, but you might give them a try.,

Distributor King and another site based in Canada are selling essentially the same dizzy. I bought one and can praise the quality and service offered. For about $150 you can get a TD-02U. Distributor King also sells on E-bay so check for them there if you have a language problem. Advance, NAPA and others offer reman's for about $00 w/core. Honda wants ~$500 list new.
The codes for the distributor used on the D16a6 call for replacing the baseplate since the sensors are part of it. This is NOT cost effective. Again the Distributor King unit will be a better bargain.

Unfortunately, I had problems with my Distributor King distributor at my last race. It cost me a race and a qualifier until I found the problem - a pin had worked itself loose at the connector. A replacement is on the way, so at least I give DK a
