Default Question, Any disadvantages to running DX crank pully instead of Heavy ZC unit?

THe Cast ZC is heavy as hell and has a cracked Power stearing pully. I could get that shaved off but it still outweights the DX pully 4 to 1. Appears this is like a harmonic Ballancer whereas the DX is a simple Stamping. Pro's and con's anyone.

one major con.......

You'll destroy the main bearings in less than 10,000 miles.
Use the heavy pulley.

OK, I see what you are saying, I guess I will be getting my pully down to the Machine shop ASAP to get the broken Power steering pump part cut off so it doesn't cause a crack to extend from the broken part and destroy the pully. I know on a V-8 you wouldnt run without a harmonic balancer. Since the D15 and the B16 apparently don't have one really means nothing. I thought the stock ZC pully seemed a bit too much like a harmonic Balancer. Its going back on. Thanks for the Advice.

The long stroke of the D16 motors require the dampener.

My other car has a SBC V8

I took your advice and the original pully/balancer is back on. Didn't want to take chances. THought this was the best place to ask that question. My Honda knowledge is lacking, but not my mechanical aptitude. I thought it was important since if honda stuck such a piece of heavy metal on the crank they would have had a very good reason for it. My last V-8 car was a 1979 Chevy Monza Spyder with a LT-1 350 w/M-22 4-speed. Fast. Thirsty. Got rid of it before I landed in jail for street racing. Man that was a fun 3 months however. got rid of it in '87 before the man came knocking on my door.

Monza/Vega with a hot SBC is stupid IMHO.
NO WAY will it ever hook up and if it does you'll about **** yourself.
Then the rear end explodes and you have to buy a 9".

It was a straight line car. Did the 1/4 in 12.49 on street tires. 13 inch ones at that. Didn't corner worth a damn. Had a positrac rear end in it. would light up both of the 215-60-13 in the first 3 gears. It was a rush to drive.
