Default tapped an accord bumper !

Hi guys,
today, i was very unlucky, my mind went off somewhere and i tapped an 02 accord sedan bumper by the red light, speed cant be more than 15 mph, i was moving slowly. I "left" a ding on the accord rear bumper that looks like a door ding on a fender. Well she claimed i did it, wat the hell can i say? Any of u know whats the worse case i have to pay out of my own pocket in case i have to replace her rear bumper ? i was driving an 02 crv, the v front bumper is plastic, i dont really believe i caused that but oh well. hope to get some nice answer

Do you not have insurance?!?!? If not, not only will you be paying out of your pocket but she can also turn this over to the police for driving uninsured. Good luck

sorry i hit an accord.
btw i got an Riptimate *estimate* of 535.48, which i think was on the high side, but the **** insist he(the father) wants that shop. dont get me wrong, i do have insurance but is it worth it to pay the insurance $500 deductible and have my premium go up in the long run ? Both of us were in a hurry for our classes, no time for cops etc, and i dont want one also . sigh life SUCKS now . Asked the shop, he said aftermarket bumper $230, and cost of etc makes it 530 ? WTF what a ripoff, another shop i went to said worse case $300 bumper $200 to put it on. sigh freakin old man argue like hell that he love this shop to death. Little does he know after i search google for "keyford collision novi" shows horror story from a honda owner . freakin old man nowadays are stubborn. sorry for the rant, thanks for listening.

If you want to be an a-hole you can get out of it clear. Just lie to the insurance person on your statement. Say that she backed into you. Since there isn't any witnesses.

I'm not condoning this. I got screwed this way myself. Someone rearended me in stand still traffic. We were going to take care of it off insurance. He didn't like my estimates and began to dick me around, so I turned it in to my insurance. In the recorded statement he lied and said I backed up into him. Still can't figure out why anyone would believe I would be in reverse in bumper to bumper traffic. Anyway, since there weren't any witnesses and our statements conflicted his insurance denied liabilty and I was stuck with jacked rear bumper.

This was over a year ago and it still pisses me off!

Anyway good luck! That estimate may be a little high but it's in the ball park of dealership prices.

What are you paying a deductible for?

And...

...things could be worse, MUCH worse, quit getting all upset over what is basically nothing. You had insurance, let them handle it, your premium might change a little if you have a bad history, my wife had a wreck after having 5 years of flawless driving history and they didnt change our premium at all (it was about a year ago, her fault completely, just a little fender bender, about the same speed as yours).

I think you just need to let your insurance know what happened, tell them there was no police report and let them take care of it. Interestingly enough, you may get off scott free anyways, insurance companies love to go after cases where the non-fault party doesnt call the police in an accident, they can claim it was no fault all day long and then you never have to hear about it again (unless your getting your car fixed as well).

Relax man, your making this worse than it actually is.

This is what I want to know. If your not fixing your car, you don't pay **** (except for the jump in your monthly payments )

If your at fault...you should be honest and pay up. If the insurance companies want to battle it out over technicalities, let them, but karma is a bitch, and if you play that game...good luck to you, it WILL come back 10 fold.

maybe I'm reading this wrong, but you're whining about a $35 difference?

Damn. You fucked up, you hit the car, pay up. Insurance will allow him to choose his own shop, you should as well, especially for a $35 discrepancy.

You're lucky the "freakin old man" hasn't contacted his own insurance company yet and he's still trying to work with you directly. I wouldn't have been as nice.

well correct me if im wrong. I believe michigan has a no fault insurance scheme ? No matter whos at fault, we pay our own deductibles ? if he take it to the insurance, he will have to pay his own deductible, and i pay my own?, i paid him the money. As far as lying, the other driver has my driver license number and insurance policy number etc. siigh i just noticed a have a bent ac condenser (the one that look like a radiator up front) but nothing is wrong (crossing hands). oh well, life could be worse and i want this to be over with. bumper is unscratched (plastic) although a little loose somewhere
I think u misunderstood me for a $35 discrepancy. A shop said $300 for a bumper and $200 to put it up, this shop said $230 for a bumper and $300 to put it back up. Notice the cost to put it back up, its insane. And apparently i checked around i could get OEM honda bumper for $220 from a dealer. she work some place 5 mins away from a reputable body shop i went before and she declined it, i googled her shop and came with a bad experience by a user (google "keyford collision novi"). i mean what is wrong taking a FEW MINUTES off your daily life for a better quote and service. I agree I am lucky in some parts here, but shelling out $500 regardless sucks, i aint bill gates. i do not have a spot free driving record, and do not wish to make it worse. Sorry for the rant, thanks for the replies so far.

If you had hit me...i would have taken it straight to Global BMW and requested factory OEM parts on my car, probobly the most expensive possible option there would be, but there is no 2 ways about it, thats what was on it, that is what would go back on it. I dont give 2 ***** about what the person that hit me wants to do, if you hit the guy, and he wants it fixed at a trusted shop...thats his perogative, and you dont have ANY say in the matter.

And deductibles are for your own car damage man...if you have your car fixed, you pay your deductible when it is fixed, you dont pay his deductible for him when they fix his car...

Take this situation and just learn from it, dont sit there and whine about it, you fucked up, you paid the price...done, over, finished, spilled milk...if you didnt want to deal with it, should have reported it to your insurance, and let them handle it, chances are, since there was no police report and no witnesses, they would have found it as a "no fault" and you each would have paid your own deductibles to have your own cars fixed...but you decided to handle it yourself and now you know...and knowing is half the battle..

GI JOOOOOOEEEEEEE!

just take it as a loss, and get on with it...i'd turn it in to insurance personally...that way you can't be sued in the long run for bodily injuries her dad may have found later that night...it's people like this however which cause insurance rates to be so high...
