Replacing the timing belt.
I have a 94 Prelude vtec.
It has 63k miles on it.
Its an eleven year old car... and my dad is worried that the timing belt will break.
It has been well maintained the past 11 years.
Should I replace the timing belt soon?

it doesn't have to be done until 90k, but your car is a 94. although it has been maintained, i would say you should do the belt, it is the one thing keeping your motor in one piece after all. i wouldn't recommend doing it yourselft though, unless you're experienced. get all honda parts. it will cost less than $150 for the belts and the water pump. if you want you can replace the crank and balance shaft seal too for an extra $15, like i did. these prices are from a honda dealership with their discount (i have friends that work there).

I would suggest getting these parts regardless if you are going to do it your self or not. I have found mechanics tend to get the cheapest parts so they can make their overall price lower. We did my friends timing belt and saw he had a Bosch brand. I am not saying I completely distrust these cheap timing belts, but I am pretty sure when Honda thought about the life expectancy of the timing belt they had their own OEM parts in mind.

Oh yea, I totally forgot... if you have a VTEC look into doing the manual tensioner conversion. There is a good write up on it and the whole process only adds on like 30 minutes if you don't know what you are doing. It does make the belt a bit tighter, but I was able to slip it over the pulley easy enough.

Hey, thanks guys.
Im not much of a mechanic.
I got new spark plugs too, the "iridinium" or soemthing like that, there supposed to be the best.
Sometimes after my car sits for a while it kind of struggles starting up.
I plan on getting an intake... suggestions?
I was oging to get one off ebay with a K&N filter, but there around 90$. Is it worth it? or should i just go ahead and get a cheaper one?

You can always pull the tb cover off and take a look at the timing belt.
