Default SOHC Turbo w/FMU Misfire code, no misfire? HELP!

I have a SOHC turbo, with a 255 Walboro, running a FMU/missing link. It has been running strong for over 5,000 miles. I have just recently got a check engine light for a misfire in the 4th cylinder. I have changed plugs around, wires, cap and rotor look new, but i still get this code. Any other ideas? I want to get a compression test soon too.

Anyone else come across this problem?

I plan on getting it chipped soon and actually getting tuned, but for the meantime this amber check engine light is annoying the **** out of me. Anything else?

For those of you still intrested, I changed the cap, changed the plugs, wires, injectors, etc. Still getting the same problem. Car runs fine, pulls hard, no sign of a misfire.

ok I came off the wrong way. Just chip it and you be happier prolly with just the base map...then go from there to get it tuned. Good luck.

i was throwing misfire codes for a long time.. sometimes it would actually misfire and sometimes not. i changed the usual ignition parts and the same problem was there..

finally i started getting a bad misfire in cyl4 and it was the distributor. after the new distributor the car is running way better then it ever did..

good luck .. misfires suck.

What is your plug gap? Have you been losing any coolant at all? One last thing is your running a intank pump with a fmu. The fmu requires a inline fuel pump to provide enough pressure for the fmu to supply the fuel you need.

With no inline pump and no timing control/retard you are running lean and could very well have detonation. Id say the code is the start of a major problem that will appear here soon.

I just recently tested the obd1 ecu i wanted to use in my car, with the conversion harness and everything. I plugged it in to see what codes i got.

I got a vtec solenoid code (because my car ain VTAK)
and a IACV code, since i need to convert to a 2-wire one.

How come the code 74 doesn't transfer to being a problem on the obd1 ecu?
Since I'm tuning on this ecu, I want this ecu to work, I'm not worried about the obd2 one.

I agree with Matt. ^^^

Have you done a compression test yet?? My guess is that the 4th cylinder may be on it's way out - check for oil on the plug.
