I'm no superman but how...?
A few days ago, I dropped my bike for the 2nd time coming into my cousin's garage. Ahh it was gay, but the overly weird thing was that I and my 17 yr. old cousin, Victoria were able to pick up the R6. Wut I'm wondering is ... how da fu*k did I did that? The 1st time I dropped it, I couldn't lift it an inch off of the ground and a cop had to help me. Haha. But anyways...
The bike dropped on its right side, completely. I braced the handlebar w/ my right hand and the gas tank w/ my left, and my cousin just braced the tail section and we lifted that bitch up in the same position as if you're gonna lift up a box off the ground.
Neither my cousin or I are big at all. She's around 120 'n I'm around 115, so like... anyone know how I did this? I'm guessin' there's some leverage involved. I assumed that the bike was laying completely on its frame slider and the exhaust, so when I lifted it up, it had some momentum b4 the tires contacted the ground, which I think it would've been the case.
Wut's the "proper" or easy way to lift up a dropped bike, assuming you're by yourself? They didn't teach me this in the MSF course.

as long as u get a secure grip and good footing shouldnt be a problem.

I think the easiest and safest way to pick up a bike is using your legs. First thing you should do is have your back facing the bike. You squat and get a good grip on the frame while your hands are behind and your back. You lift and start using your legs to push and back pedal. Secure the kickstand and you're set.
Back to the bike, hips on tank. One hand on the subframe or something sturdy, the other on the front brake so that the bike doesn't roll as soon as you get weight on the wheels. Lift with your legs, they're the most powerful part of your body and wont blow out like you back.
If you drop it in front of a bunch of people you might be able to do it real quicklike bent over forwards 'casue of all the adrenaline... not like i'd know or anything......

Hmm I don't understand how you guys lift it with your back to the bike. Sounds awkward. I just stand with the bike between my legs and lift it up by the handlebars.

lol! thats true right there.
the times i laid my bike down, i just lift it up easily. the r6 is a really light bike, i lift it with ease. maybe because i bench 6 plates also.

Safest way to pick up your bike alone is to put your back to the bike so you can lift with your legs. Modern sportbikes are pretty light so if youre in shape you can pick em up by yourself, but larger tourers and cruisers will kill your back.

Damn, 6 plates....well I guess I'm not that bad. Weigh about 145 and bench 260...so lifting the 954 aint very hard.

with the bike on its side on the ground... point the front wheel downwards so the bar on the side of the bike that is down is at full lock, pointing back wards the tank, and lift with your legs. you can use one hand on each bar, but the best is to use both hands on the downside bar
Helps if the bike is in gear to
