Starting a Crx or civic EF without pressing clutch ?
From 1989-1991 ef's, you must press the clutch in to start the car.
TRICK:
I heard that on the top of the clutch pedal assembly, there is a lil connector, just disconnect this and voila, you can now start your car without pressing the clutch.
Actually, its not just disconnecting it, you have to ground it to something too...
It'll make a great kill switch no ?
can anyone confirm this ?

Sure, but it's not smart.
I swapped from auto to manual so I don't have the clutch switch hooked up and let me tell you, even after 2 months of driving like this I still occasionaly forget to make sure it's in neutral before starting it and not pressing the clutch....NOT GOOD.
I'm going to find out how to hook it up.
How hard is it to press the clutch to start the car?

Or buy an 88 Civic/CRX. They did not have the switches.
My 88 std had no switch, so I could start it any time. Kinda nice when you're doing car repairs, and are covered in dirt so you don't want to get into your car.

Which is incidently, a great kill switch for your car
I use it as my last kill switch, so i remember not to turn over the started without reattaching everything else that will stop if from firing.

my friend's crx has this little feature, along with a remote start from the clifford alarm. its pretty cool, and I will install my alarm with the remote start. for me, its a habit to leave the car in nuetral. i drive without ever thinking about the shifting, and would never leave my car in gear. thats what the e-brake is for.
The 1988 CRX Si did not come with a clutch safety switch. I won't vouche for the other models of the same year because I've never driven one. Remember: 88 CRX Si = No Clutch Safety Switch. Also, you can check out CRXSi.com and they got a huge listing of CRX differences too. Later.

You disconnect it and jump the 2 wires together on the plug.. If you want just unplug the plug from the switch and cut the plug end off, then twist the 2 wires together and your done..

89-91 has the option of running a secondary killswitch easily though if the owner wanted and is compentant enough. primary would be fuel cut.

Just buy an 88 Std Hatch and you're good to go! Lightest hatch chassis, easy swaps, and no clutch switch!
I'll trade ya straight up my 88 Std Hatch just so you wont have clutch switch issues, personally I want to have that feature as I have forgotten to put it in Neutral before(not good).

i just cut mine out and twisted the wires together in my 89. i like it for when i'm twiddling with something under the hood... i can leave it in neutral with the window down, and just reach in and start it without walking all the way around, opening the door, sitting down, etc. useful for when you have to turn it on and off repeatedly.
wow I always wondered why my 88 crx didnt need the clutch pressed in to start, i thought someone had already messed with the switch. It has flipped a few people out when they see me start it that way and yes it does come in handy when your filthy. Any dummy knows when or if its in gear before doing this.
