OBD0 -> ODB1 conversion questions
I see a lot of people on here converting from OBD0 to OBD1... why do people make this conversion so often?
I've heard people say its more efficient if you're running ODB1. Why is this?
I see a lot of headaches involved, too, but I'm wondering if its something I should explore more for my first gen B16 in my 89 CRX Si.

I was wondering the same question. I will be putting in a 92-93 Intergra XSi motor into my 88 Crx si. What wiring harness conversions do I need???
1) the plug and play of an obd1 vtec ecu is easier to find in obd1.
2) Tuning, Hondata, Uberdata and Chrome are all obd1. Yes there is turboedit but people seem to use uberdata/
3) Runs the engine more efficiently (4-wire o2) etc. Honda wouldnt have changed it if it didnt improve things.
4) More trouble codes to diagnose
anything else people wanna add?

Hey, me too! In my 88 Si. Hopefully with LSD. Let me know when you start. We can swap tips.
Anyway, I said **** it and just bought an OBD-1 changeover kit. It's an OBD0 to OBD1 jumper harness, distributor jumper harness and a VTEC subharness. You can get one shipped for under $200 brand new from rywire.com. All you need to do is plug everything up and very, very little wiring. It's just easier than ******* with a whole bunch of wiring and hoping that what you read in a forum was correct and won't set your car on fire, provided that it even starts. And like those two other guys said: The possibilities are much greater.

Normally, OBD-1 allows for better tunability but now AEM and a couple of other companies that offer ECU upgrades or stand alones (EMS, etc) are coming out for the OBD-0 here very soon.
BTW, you CAN pass smog in CA with a ref if you're still OBD-0. Yes, we did it a few years ago

bump for Rywire.com
awsome. Thanks Knwldge54
Really Newman?!?!?! how the hell you managed to get a OBD0 B16 through BAR is beyond me. They've wised up alot the past few years, hard to sneak anything by them.
To pass you basically must BE a DelSol VTEC, which according to them, you can not be, if you're running a OBD0 setup.
