Default Difficult LS vtec question

I have searched through many many posts and ls vtec how to's but this is an issue that I can not find an answer for. On the deck suraface of the LS block there is a small oil plug that is held simply by an o-ring. On the H23/H22 vtec conversion it says to remove that plug. What about the lsvtec?
Thank you
