Default For those of you having pre-detonation problems..

I know there is quite a few of you guys on here that have been pulling your hair out trying to find out the cause of pinging/pre-detonation on your JDM H22A's, and perhaps your US H22's....

I have been searching for the cause of the problem on my car for at least 6 months now...I have taken it to 5 places, 2 of them where Honda dealerships, and they couldn't even figure it out...Well, this weekend I decided to clean my airfilter and I realized, what the hell, i'll just go by a new one for $25, it's 2 years old anyhow and has already been cleaned too many times as it is. Did that, installed it in the parking lot of Advance auto, and BOOM, the engine ran as smooth as glass...I couldn't believe it and thought that maybe the car was just going through one of it's stupid *** unexplainable rituals where it behaves itself, but after 5 days now, the engine is still purring like a kitten and not a damn sign of any predetonation...It also gained a shitload of power and throttle response...

The only logical explaination as to why this occured would be that the restriction in airflow caused the MAP sensor to read faulty in thinking that the engine was being operated in a higher RPM at the given throttle position and advanced timing to a degree that was not within spec...I dunno, you guys take a stab at it

Anyways, i just thought i'd share this with you guys so you can scratch another possiblility off the checklist..
