I am planning to be down in Australia from the second week of March until the first week in April and was looking for some input from some of the Australians. I am initially arriving in Cairns, but the rest of my schedule is pretty flexible. I'm thinking of trying to make the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide and would like a few days in Sydney and Melborne for some tourist stuff. I'm considering going to Alice Springs, but am not sure how much there is much to see or do up there. Going to Kangaroo Island also sounds interesting, but I don't know how easy it will be to get around on once I'm there. I was not planning on renting a car. As full as I'm making this schedule, I think I'll only be able to do Alice Springs or Kangaroo Island. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does any one there know of a dealership with an Integra Type R I can go look at, and maybe even drive? Thanks in advance.

If you're coming down to Adelaide then Nordic Honda (Angas St) is in the heart of the city ... walking distance of from where the Clipsal 500 will be. I'm pretty sure they'll have a Type R there ... and probably a G3 Type R aswell. Otherwise there is Formula Honda (North East Rd) ... which is about 5-10min taxi ride from the track. They definitely have a G4 and G3 Type R.
Goodluck ... and enjoy your stay in Oz!

Thnaks Mike. I can't wait to get down there. The Clipsal sounds like its going to be a blast.
Another question I have for someone down under is I'm looking to go to either Alice Springs or Kangaroo Island after Adelaide. Is there really much to see in alice Springs? Is there a good way to get around Kangaroo Island without renting a car?

Yeah Clipsal 500 is generally accepted as the best motorsport event in Australia and probably the southern hemisphere. Trust me ... Adelaide knows how to put on a race. We never should've lost the F1 GP
Should be good ... aslong as the weather is fine. Went a couple of years ago ... and got drenched when unexpected storms rolled in. Racing was excellent though.
As far as Alice or KI is concerned ... Alice Springs will definitely be warmer. KI has a tendancy to be f*&%ing cold!!! KI is closer to Adelaide though. I'm sure there are tourist buses and thing that tour around KI ... but renting a car shouldnt be a big deal anyway ... unless you have trouble getting used to RHD
Personally I probably go to Alice Springs ... cos its warmer, a lot more civilised than KI and you can go see Ayers rock too ... oh sorry its called Ularu now!
If you like nature and scenery, Tasmania is good place to go ... beautiful countryside (a bit cold though too) and awesome roads for driving
Well good luck with your choice.

Does Australia get the WRX Sti and Mitsu EVO VII? If so, anyone have some ideas where I can check them out in Adelaide (be there during Clipsal 500), Melbourne, or Sydney?
Also, any of you been on the Ghan? Looks like it would be interesting.

I think we will be getting the STi but I'm pretty sure its not here yet (we do have the old one - 2 door and 4 door versions ... but they're quite rare - I doubt you'd find one for sale). As for the EVO ... we get a small number of EVO VI Tommi Makkinen editions. I think the Mitsubishi dealer in Adelaide (across the road from the Honda dealer I mentioned) may have one on display/for sale.
The Ghan ... its kinda a thing a lot of old people do. I guess if you can get a sleeper cabin and put up with the "clackety clackety" and swaying of the train it would be OK. Its also costs a lot more than flying ... but if your in it for the scenery/touristy stuff then I guess thats OK.

Any recomendations on must see or do stuff there in Adelaide? Any ideas on some good nature oriented stuff to do around Adelaide? Someone mentioned Cleland (spelling?) as being a good place to go.
Mike, are you going to the Clipsal 500? If so, want to hook up for a beer or something at the track.
