I doubt you will have a problem passing. I passed in a stock 97 R, with a bent valve on #3. compression #'s at the time were around 200 for 1,2,4. Cylinder 3 was at 50/ Check engine light was on.
There standards arent very tight. Word on the street is that the White Rock facility will pass alot cars that fail elsewhere, so that would be the place to go if you are borderline.

Air Care = emissions testing (idle only)
I plan to put my stock header/exhaust back on.
Don't put any paper in your exhaust (
) - it will catch fire for one thing and will smoke like crazy - that is if your motor still runs.

Well I brought in my '92 Jeep last year and they only did an idle test. I think it depends on the age of the car. New cars should be exempt from load tests. But the rules changed in 2001. Here are the new rules: (from http://www.aircare.ca)
----------------------------------------
You'll notice changes to the AirCare Inspection process. It's all part of AirCare II, the next generation of the AirCare program.
On January 1, 2001, the AirCare program implemented the second phase of changes to the inspection process. It's all part of AirCare II - the next generation of the AirCare program. These enhancements ensure that AirCare keeps pace with recent innovations in emissions systems technology and continues to make a clear difference in the air we breathe.
AirCare program changes effective January 1, 2001:
I/M 240 TEST PROCEDURE
Most 1992 and newer vehicles receive a more comprehensive emissions test. These vehicles follow a driving trace which simulates real-world driving conditions (accelerations, decelerations, cruise and idle) at speeds of up to 90 km/hr.
BIENNIAL INSPECTIONS
Most 1992 and newer vehicles only require a biennial (every two years) AirCare inspection, as long as they pass. (1991 and older vehicles continue to receive an annual AirCare inspection.) Some 1992 and newer vehicles which, for some reason, cannot be tested on a dynamometer, receive an idle-only test on an annual basis.
To determine when your vehicle requires an AirCare inspection, refer to the ICBC Notice to Renew documents included in your insurance renewal package.
AIRCARE II TEST FEE STRUCTURE
1991 and older vehicles continue to receive an annual ASM test for $24. Most 1992 and newer vehicles receive a more comprehensive transient emissions inspection for $48. 1992 and newer vehicles which, for some reason, cannot be tested on a dynamometer, receive an idle-only test for $24 on an annual basis. All vehicles are charged $24 for re-inspections.
AIRCARE EXPIRY DATE
The AirCare expiry date assigned to a pass result depends upon the type of test the vehicle receives. 1991 and older vehicles receive a 363-day expiry date for a pass. Most 1992 and newer vehicles receive a 726-day expiry date for a pass. 1992 and newer vehicles which, for some reason, cannot be tested on a dynamometer, receive an idle-only test and receive a 363-day expiry date for a pass. All vehicles receive a 90-day expiry date for a conditional pass.
90-DAY EXPIRY DATE FOR CONDITIONAL PASS
If a vehicle receives a conditional pass, the owner has 90 days to purchase vehicle license and insurance. You may still purchase up to a full year of insurance. Once the 90-day limit expires, the vehicle will require another AirCare inspection before re-licensing. Vehicles that are sold after the 90-day period will require another AirCare inspection before re-licensing.
REPAIR COST LIMITS
Repair cost limits have been increased and will result in more excessive emitting vehicles being properly repaired before being re-licensed. Repair cost limits are designed to ensure that motor vehicle emissions are lowered while limiting the financial burden upon vehicle owners.
OBD II SCANNING***
1998 and newer vehicles have their on-board fault detection system scanned to ensure compliance with evaporative emission requirements.

On September 5, 2000, the AirCare program introduced the first phase of enhancements including new equipment, software and test procedures, a driving test for all-wheel drive, traction control and diesel-powered vehicles, a pressurized gas cap test for vehicles manufactured from 1972 to 1995 and new AirCare maximum allowables.
AIRCARE WORKS
Over the first seven years of the program, approximately one in three vehicles (508,443) tested was identified as having excess emissions. As a result of proper repairs, total emissions from all vehicles has been reduced by more than 30%.
On September 21, 2000, the province released an independent review of the AirCare program. The major findings of the review were that "AirCare continues to be one of the most effective I/M programs in North America".
If you require further information on the changes to the AirCare program, call the AirCare information line at 604-433-5633. In Abbotsford, call 604-820-2226. In Chilliwack, call 604-795-4546.
