hey what do you guys think about a audi ko3 turbo
hey what do you guys think about a audi ko3 turbo its small the inlet is like 1 1/2 inch and so is the outlet do you guys think this would be worth it for 50 bucks its new no shaft play and im going to be running like 7-8 psi thanks for looking

it's really really small, like tiny. i know on our GTI it can only pump 16psi at 3500rpm and tapers out to 11psi at 7000rpm

A K03 pushed to the limit is 210 WHP. K04 is like 250, 260 WHP. A K03 will be dying off by 5K on your D-series. 7 psi from a K03 might add 30 WHP, it's a waste of time. If you want a bit of extra power go buy a used JRSC, because it's a waste of time trying to build a manifold flanged for a K03 turbo when they're so freakin tiny.

dude if u just want a litlle more power for the sohc buy the turbo then upgrade later if u want too but it will be fun for now.

fair enough, junk on any honda car made for the US market. That should cover me and my stong opinion about undersized turbos and the idiots that defend them

you wanted to know whats up we told you . Ko3 is not a turbo thats worth it on ANY MOTOR. its not even worthy of being on a 1.8T engine. hence why everyone swaps it out for a Ko4 which is a straight drop in. or a new manifold and a GT28 turbo to better suite the powerband.
the ko3 is smaller than a t25
a t25 will max out around 230 at about 14 psi on a turbo D series. not too bad but do you really want to run that much boost ? honestly the T25 doesnt feel fast at all it dies otf EXTREAMLY fast.
plus youll have to get CUSTOM flanges made for your application and build everything yourself. or get someone to custom build it for you at the cost of an arm and a leg. for what? 30 horsepower ?
when you look at it. go ahead. buy it for 50$ . save what 50-100$ over a T3. and then spend money on custom flanges/parts/fabrication and in the end. itll be slower than a t3 equipped d series, plus cost more because of the custom parts needed to make it possible .

hes just gonna say "i dont want big numbers" because he doesn't realize that its all about the power band. He's obviously not gonna listen to people that have actually made the mistake and learned from it. That would be crazy...right? ignorance is bliss, apparently.

agreed. im all bout the powerband. i dont liek it when the power just falls off. torque ehh thats fine my WHP always pulls to redline . i always like insane amounts of torque though.
thats why youll never see an SC61 or t3/t67 on ANY of my cars. i always runs t3's on LS's and ill run smaller t3t4's on gsr's but on my personal car i run a GT2871R.

yup, area under the curve is key but so is traction. Early spool sucks when you dont have enough road speed to hook up. Its kinda silly to be making ~220 whp and spinning azenis through 2nd IMO (<my old setup).
But as long as the power climbs to redline it will be fun to drive, low speed traction or not.

Hey, if you want I have 2 K03s I've love to rip out of my S4 - maybe you can go twin and make 300 WHP but you probably couldn't spool both. On the S4 they hit 17-18 psig at less than 3000 rpm, but power peaks at 300WHP at 4700 rpm and dies off sharply after that, it's such a shame. K04s aren't much better.
If you want a cheap turbo, take a look at using a 14b/g, there are plenty around so you can always find another when it goes...
