Quick shoot of my new cage (EG, 56k okay, it's not JDM and it's welded in)
Got my car back from the fabricator on wednesday and I'm really happy with how it turned out. Cage was done by John at Racer X fabrication in Anaheim, CA. It's a new shop but his experience includes working at Skunk2 and before that Area 51. If anyone wants to contact him the phone number of the shop is (714) 632-9041. No website yet but I think I am gonna need to make one for him. If you call tell him Alex sent you.
In case you are wondering it is a street car, daily driven and it does about 400 miles a week on SoCal freeways. It's the only car I own so I was hoping the cage wouldn't make it too uncomfortable and it really doesn't. In fact once you get in the only thing you notice is the door bar which makes a pretty sweet armrest. Car seems to ride a little bit better with the added stiffness from the cage. It's on Omnipower drag coilovers out back with Omnipower sports in front, so the ~1100lb rear springs don't do much for ride quality but it seems to have improved a little.
Goal is low 12s/high 11s all motor but I'm a long way from that right now. I just wanted to get the cage in for safety as I have been getting more and more intimidated by the frequent sight of Excursions and Tahoes running red lights at 40+mph around my area. ******* soccer moms. I think that the door bar would at least help in a side impact and the 5-point will keep me in the car better.
Next step is body and paint and then a new, bigger motor (currently LS/VTEC'd with P30s and Buddy Club Spec 3+, etc. etc. if anyone really wants to know I will post my complete motor setup but it's not all that exciting).
edit: I forgot to mention it's all chromoly...
Anyway here's the pics:

I really can't quote prices since I got kinda hooked up, and plus there are a lot of variables when getting a cage. Some cars are harder (and thus more expensive) than others. Plus I got some extra stuff (like the main hoop diagonal) that not everyone will want/need. and prices will vary depending if you want chromoly or mild steel...
just give John a call and he'll give you a quote
