Default Tach problems?

I have a 90 civic hatch dx w/o tach, I am trying to put in a 90 si cluster w/ tach. I pluged all the plugs in and started it but the tach wasnt working. All the lights lit up and I even checked the spedometer it works good. I cant figure this out. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

I read on another forum a while back, that you have to run a seperate wire from the dizzy to the plug in the back of the cluster, has anyone heard of this?

My auto DX hatch did not have a tach, but when I put a cluster in with a tach it worked... I think you can run a wire from the ecu over to the cluster to make it work.

I put a 90 crx cluster in my 90 std and the tac worked like a charm. Plug and Play no extra wiring. Make sure you have all the plugs in tight and jiggle the wires in the plugs to make sure no pins slipped. I do not have enough experience to say this for all cases but I am about 85% sure you should not have to run new wires.
