Default Riding on little shock travel bad?

Is riding on little to no shock travel bad? I checked mine and there was little to no shock travel between the bottom of the half cut bump stops and the shock body.

yeah it's a bad thing, unless you like the feeling of hitting bumpstops...

What would it feel like to hit a bumpstop? I'm not sure if I felt it before. THe rears have about an inch or more of shock travel left. I am considering extending my current top hats in the front.
