Default Help required with oil filter relocation kit and oil cooler kit.

Hi,

Im going to relocate the oil filter on my EG and add in a cooler at the same time.

Im using a Mocal kit made here in the UK.

Pics :

On the left, the remote filter plate and sandwich plate (with thermostat).

On the right, the blanking plate for the block and plate for oil supply to filter.

These pictures show how the oil will flow in/out of the plates.

Pic of the setup :

Is it possible to include the thermo sandwich plate as i cant see how it can be included. I can see how you can run the whole kit without the filter relocation kit but a bit puzzled the way i want to do it. Last thing im wanting is to starve the engine of oil so asking you guys for help please .

* Please note that the thermo plate can be taken off the remote filter housing.

I don't see any problems doing it that way. The IN's and OUT's on the thermostat plate and remote filter head should match up.

If you're worried about it tho, I'd run the thermostat sandwich plate adapter off the block and fret about the higher cost of the extra lines and fittings later on.

Or, you can use the dedicated thermostat that Mocal has.

But if i use the thermo plate and the blanking plate on the block the oil will not get filtered until it gets to a temp to pass the thermo plate and up to the remote position. That is why i have the in/out only with no thermo so the oil can go up and back down to the filter.

Im confused about this all working and i know Mocal do supply inline thermostats but trying to get the kit i have to work will save me buying extra parts.

Ok, found it out.

Both the in and out hoses from the sandwich plate that is attached to the block go to the remote filter head in/out connections which are directional. The thermo sandwich plates in/out connections then attach to the oil coolers in/out so basically the oil will flow to the filter and back down normally and once its VTEC'in hot the oil will be redirected to the cooler from the thermo plate.

Job Done.
