High Compression on stock cams? losing top end in my setup
I'm running an 11.5:1 Ls/vtec and it used to have JUN III's and STILL has skunk 2 srings and retainers. I have replaced the JUN III's with stock GSR cams, and ever since then after about 6000 rpms, it feels like it's falling on it's face. It still goes, but feels like there is no power anymore after about 6000.
I searched the archives and found a few threads, and this statement I found to be the closest to the answer I'm looking for.

The pistons will lose velocity as they reach TDC because of the large difference in cranking pressure.
</TD></TR></TABLE>
would a setup like mine be a possible case of this? it's the only thing I can think of. would a switch to ITR cams be enough to regain the lost pressure since they run on 11:1 versus the GSR's 10.2:1 ??
any input is appreciated..thanks!!

For sure, why would you change out jun3's for gsr's? I's but the jun3's back in, or a set of skunk stage2's, or bc3+ if you dont want to rev the hell outta the motor.

so is his compression to high for the stock cams?</TD></TR></TABLE>
No, the compression isn't the problem. To carry power up high, you typically need extra durration... something the stock cams lack.

so whats the highest compression u can run on gsr or b16 cams and make decent or good power lets say on pump 93 octane?

You are missing the whole point. "decent power" to you might be *** compared to what I think is "decent" power... you see my point? The stock GSR cams are NOT going to compare in top end power to the jun stage III's... Thats just all there is to it. He is comparing a large cam to a stock cam. THAT is my point. You can run whatever the heck you want in your car, thats up to you. 93 octane I would personally stick to 12:0 and below.
