Just change struts but have some more questions
I searched about rear bump stops and antiroll bar linkage but still need more help.
I have a 98 Accord EX 4cyl 4dr and recently replaced all 4 struts with KYB GR2s. Reused everything and am not lowering.
1. I could not remove the left antiroll bar linkage that connects to the wheel hub because the hex hole was worn out. Managed to remove the one connected to the antiroll bar. Put everything back and test drove it and now, there's a knocking noise from the left side. Put the car on stands and started pulling/pushing on the antiroll bar and the sound is coming from the bolt that I could not remove. My guess is that I managed to loosen it somehow but I can't tighten it cause the hex hole is rounded. Is there any way to tighten this or do I have to saw the bolt off and buy a new linkage?
2. I removed the old bump stops from the stock struts but could not remove the bump stops on the new KYB GR2s. I noticed that the KYB bump stops are about half the length of the stock ones. Is this going to cause a problem if I bottom out?
I reused the stock coils, mounts etc.
Please help!!!

Bump stops are there to cushion your car when you bottom out. I would leave them in there if i were you.

I think you guys are misinterpreting what danz is saying. I don't believe he's even attempting to lower his car, and I believe he was trying to swap the OEM bumpstops over to the GR2's, not remove them altogether.
danz75,
1. I'm not aware of another way of removing the linkage in your situation w/o cutting the bolt off. You might want to compress the suspension some and re-tighten all your bolts, as it's possible that something else is making the noise. I can get my rear sway to move ever so slightly when the car is raised, but I'm not experienced any knocking sounds while driving.
2. You should be fine with the GR2 bumpstops.

did he even mention lowering? dude, did you even finish reading the post?
why would anyone want to get gr2(aka stock replacement ) to pair with lowering spring? not all strut can't lower your car, koni yellow offer a height adjustable perch.
the 6th gen linkage are weak, honda just replace abunch of those 6th gen linkage with a beefier unit.
i snapped my front linkage when i am swapping in TLS sway bar.
the four grey dots are what holding all the force down, and it's all plastic
i dont see how you could get that sucker out other than cutting it with a rotary tool(dremel). put both side on a jack stand and feel the play in the linkage, if the sphere is moving, you know you got a bad unit.
just use the gr2 bumpstop, you don't even need to alter them if you running stock ride height. the material they use might be denser than oem rubber.

Thank you guys for helping.
Since I had my struts already installed and just wanted to tighten the linkage, I went out and bought a craftsman vise grip (my walmart one was worthless) and tightened it as much as I could squeeze it....and it worked!!!! Managed to get it tight and there's no more knocking sound from the linkage. Funny how much a half to full turn makes.
As for the bumpstops, I figured since they were included in the KYB GR2 struts and there was no way I could remove them to swap out with the stock ones, KYB must have them there for a reason. I have kept the stock bump stops just in case.
The car rides wonderfully now and I'm glad I swapped out the struts cause the front 2 and rear right was pretty much toast.
Thanks for the help!!!
Great forum!!
