please list what kind of radio you have as well and how the amp is connected to the radio. sound like a crossover is misadjusted either at the radio or on the amp, or that the bass / subwoofer out on the radio is not turned on or (if it is an alpine) tha the sub boost is not turned up.

well with the stock headunit sound quality is gonna be comprimised. Also with a 500/1 its really not enough power to reach the full output of any w7 maybe the 8w7 but that's it. Plus you mght wanna check your crossover and subsonic settings on your amp.

Even with stock radio, the gain can be adjusted to make enough power to power any W7. I'm thinking its the crossover also.

Bose unit has an amp built into it. If you tapped into the speaker wires with an RCA converter, make sure the wires you tapped into are not being amplified by the factory bose amp. I do not know if the amp is external or internal. I know in the older Nissans and other models the bose amps were usually under the rear deck. If you can, tap into the wires coming directly out of your radio harness.

on your signal line for the 5001 run a line driver. The output voltage coming from the stock bose deck is only like 0.05 v RMS the reason that it works well with the stock bose amp is because that amp was made for that deck.

the jl5001 is perfect for a 10w7. if you send it more power, it's not going to get that much louder and you will compromise the reliablity of the driver. (see jl's recommended power range on their website)

the "/" series has the capabilty of running a high level input through the rcas. no line output converter is needed. we did an rsx-s with the same amp and oem bose system like most applications all we did was clip ends off a set of rcas and connected the wires to speaker level. there is a high and low level input switch on the amp, did you try flipping that?

i'd grab a portable cd player with a y cord and plug it into the rca input of the amp to determine if it is the setup of the amp or your amp is just not getting a signal. if the sub plays, they you gotta look into everything before the amp. where are you getting the signal? off the rear speakers? or the bose sub or the amp below the passenger seat. if your getting the signal off of the rear speakers, the bose system might be active, meaning that the rear speakers have all the subbass already filtered out.

can you borrow a subwoofer from a buddy or connect your to his/her car to make sure your amp or subwoofer isn't busted? sometimes its the simpliest things or most obvious that get overlooked.

hope this helps.

yeah its connected to my 2 rear speaker wires with 2 hi-lo converters. i turned off the bass eq, the bass now sounds somewat cleaner, but still pretty shitty for a w7. its still not catcing all the right high freq and low freq, onces in a while it will catch a beat and hit hard as hell, but the rest of the time its still crap.. i guess this is the best i can get out of hookin it up with the bose system? has anyone ever done it? did u get simular results?
and to fix the loud *** beat i get when i turn off the headunit, we connected a switch to the remote wire, so i can turn off the amp. cause the reason was the amp was still on cause it gets signal.

Just do it right and get a new headunit and have the shop install it and wire things up. You won't get it to work properly otherwise. Or spend a GRIP on the JL audio stock headunit interface.
